G'day mate!

We would like to invite you to a virtual trip to Australia, where we spent 4 wonderful weeks in October 2002. Let us share the best sights and moments with you!

Our trip can roughly be split into 3 main parts: Sydney, the Outback, and Noosa. This page shows you a quick overview, the BEST OF.
If you would like to see more about a region or sight, just click on the link.

If you are interested in a bigger view of a picture, and if the picture has a blue or violet frame, just click on the picture! (bigger view is not available for all pictures)

And now - have a lot of fun... we had!!!

Sydney

Sydney is a really fascinating city - lots of sights to see, but also gorgeous nature to explore e.g. on hiking tours round the natural harbour.

We stayed in Manly, a beautiful (for me the most beautiful) suburb of Sydney, located on a narrow peninsula with access to numerous beaches. A lively place to stay; and it takes only 30 mins by ferry from Sydney city centre to get there!

Together with Carol and Reg, Sabine's host family of 1995, we explored the beautiful Northern Beaches of Sydney, from Manly / North Head to Barrenjoey Headland.

Within 1 or 2 hours drive from Sydney, there are several nice places to explore, e.g. the Blue Mountains (Australia's Great Canyon), Featherdale Wildlife Park and the 2000 Olympic Site, or the famous wine growing region Hunter Valley, with wine, cheese and fudge tasting. Come and join us on our day trips!

Outback

Yes, this was a REAL adventure - the tour took us through half the Australian continent from Perth to Alice Springs! If you want to read more about the group, the route, the tour company, and the vehicle, come this way!

How does a typical campsite and a typical day in the middle of nowhere look like? Here you can find out!

Spotted right, left and in the middle of the road... to join us on the journey through the hot, dusty, red and wild outback, click here!

The former gold rush town of Gwalia - today a lost city! To see more of this fascinating little ghost town, join us on a journey through time!

On the road again... let us continue our way on the Great Central Road through the Great Victoria Desert towards the centre of Australia!

The Olgas or Kata Tjuta (Aboriginal name): A simply fascinating rock formation!

Ayers Rock or Uluru (Aboriginal name) - THE symbol of Australia. Come with us to see it at sunset, sunrise, and do the basewalk!

Kings Canyon - not as big as the American Great Canyon, but a great place to explore. A less sweatty way is to sit in front of the PC and look at our pictures!

And finally, here comes the last part of our tour, which will eventually take us to The Alice (as the Aussies call Alice Springs). End of our Outback adventure!

Noosa

Noosa is a beautiful small city north of Brisbane on the East Coast. It is a popular place for the Australians themselves to spend their holidays - especially to escape from the cooler Australian winter months in the south. The contrast to the Outback tour could not be bigger - judge by yourself! Clean and luxurious...

Hiking in Noosa National Park offers magnificent views... an entry to paradise!

Fraser Island, the biggest sand island of the world and UNESCO world heritage, is located north of Noosa and worth at least a day trip. Come join us and see more of this jewel!
