Alexandria Bay, huge but not very frequented beach in Noosa National Park.
This big lizard, a Lace Monitor, scared the wits out of us when he suddenly appeared
next to the path - and we feared that it could be a snake. Fortunately, it was not - and
this huge fellow is not dangerous. We spotted several Lace Monitors on our walks in Noosa
National Park and on Fraser Island.

Up to now, we managed to get through Australia without seeing a snake in the wild...
but here is the first and fortunately only encounter! A rather
small one, but anyway we decided to keep away and waited until she had left the path
before going on.
