Gundam Rose
Synopsis: G-Gundam as a series fields quite a few odd mobile fighter (mobile suit) designs and Gundam Rose at least too me is one of those. The curious look of a Gundam outfitted to look like a napoleonic officer wasnt exactly an attractive aspect for me.
I started this review before G-fighter debuted and due to my of interest in Rose gundam and time occupied by classes I had to let this site fall by the way-side for a while. Now with G-fighter entering repeats and Zeta gundam over the horizon I still have a lack of interest in the G-fighter series even after seeming each episode for redeeming qualities. But I digress; I should finish what I start.
The Figure: This figure is a good representation of its animated counterpart and like Shining Gundam, Rose Gundam was made as if it came off TV. The Head is well detailed and painted in a good way. The head can rotate 360 degrees but doesnt well. It can tilt its head down pretty well.
The arms stay true to the series and fit snuggly with no pop-offs however the left arms movement is understandably hindered due to the "cape" draping over the shoulder. The "cape" is split into 5 parts to try and allow more movement with limited success. The ports where the rose bits are supposed to launch from are detailed in a decent manner.
The torso too is well detailed with fair torso rotation hampered only by the core lander.
The legs are again true to the original design, hampered only by restricted movement on the hip due to the skirt armor and really bad restriction of movement along the ankles.
The Accessories: Like other early releases of the G-fighter line, accessories arent much of a focus in terms of quantity.
Hands: 2 closed fists, 2 sword hands, and one hand pointing for one of Rose Gundams special moves are included.
Rose bits: Three rose bits come with the figure. Each rose bit is surprisingly well detailed and well painted. Although the bits are understandably out of scale being a little large.
Sword and scabbard: I was disappointed to find the sword doesnt slip into the scabbard, instead you must remove the blade to place hilt in the scabbard. That feature was quite a downer.
Core lander/ backpack: Pretty well detailed and well painted the corelander is a nice touch. The thruster on the bottom swivel 90 degrees to switch from backpack to vehicle. The Cockpit opens 90 degrees to attach the back of the Rose Gundam.Play Value: For a G-fighter fan this would be enjoyed somewhat. But I would imagine the audience is limited solely to that sort of fan.
Display Value: This one is definitely going to fetch attention. I would imagine mixed attention depending on the persons preferences.
Dollar Value: The figure is well made and the paint job was nice, however the lack of accessories leaves me feeling a little cheated of my money.
Conclusion: A figure for a Gundam G-fighter fan
Score: 5.2/10 good figure hampered by little accessories and slight articulation problems
