I believe that there is one and only one God. God is in three persons though; Father, the Son, and Holy Spirit, all in one essence. You can think of the trinity like this: Ice, Water, and Vapor. God the Father is ice because He is the "Rock of Ages". God the Son, Jesus, is the Water because He even said, "But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst" (John 4:14). The Holy Spirit is the vapor because when you think of a spirit you think invisible, and that's what vapor is.
I believe, God, in His gracious mercy, sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a cross for the sins of the world! God made the ultimate sacrifice so He could have a relationship with you! But, three days after Jesus was crucified, God raised Him from the dead! Jesus defied Death itself!
Why did God have to sacrifice His Son? Well, there is this thing called sin (any thing that goes against God in any way or form...if you don't obey Him, you are sinning), and since God is perfect and holy, He cannot be in the presence of sin. Before Jesus, the Israelites would sacrifice an unblemished lamb as atonement for sin. When Jesus came, He was perfect. He never sinned, and therefore was "unblemished". Jesus, when He was being crucified, took on ALL the sins of the world: form the beginning of time, to the end. HE was OUR lamb! The Lamb of God!
Now, you know what God has done for you, what's next? Well, it says in God's Word (the Bible), in Acts 3:19 that you should, "Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out... What does that mean? Well, the word "repent" means to change your mind and actions, so if you repent form sinning and disobeying God, then your sins will "...be blotted out..." (Acts 3:19).
If you do decide to ask God to forgive you and you truly want to repent, tell Him! All you have to do is pray. Here's an example:
"Dear God, I know I am a sinner. I know that You sent Your Son to die on the cross for me and I want You to save me. I want You to be my Lord and Savior. Help me to truly repent of my sinful ways. Amen." Now, if you feel kinda weird 'bout all this and you still have questions, either talk to your pastor, or if you don't have one, go to your local church and ask someone their (like maybe a friend). If you feel uncomfortable about that then you can e-mail me with ANY of your questions. Click here to e-mail me!
