DON'T GRIEVE TOO LONG
|
|
Don't grieve too long for
now I'm free.
I'm following the path God set for me
I ran to Him when I heard His call,
I wagged my tail and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To bark or pull on the rope in play
Games left un-played must stay that way.
I found such peace it made
my day.
My parting has left you with a void,
So fill it with your remembered joy
A friendship shared, your laugh, your kiss;
Oh, yes, these things I too shall miss.
Be not burdened with times
of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow
My life's been full, you've given so much -
Your time, your love and firm, guiding touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all
to brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief
Lift up your heart and share with me.
God wanted me now, He set me free.

Dog On Loan
"I'll lend you for a little time, a dog of mine God said.
For you to love while he lives
and mourn when he is dead.
The years they may be six or ten
or even as few as three.
But will you, 'til I call him back,
take care of him for me?
He'll bring his charms to gladden you,
and shall his stay be brief,
You'll have his lovely memories as solace
for your grief.
I cannot promise he will stay,
since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there
I want this dog to learn.
I've looked the wide world over,
in my search for masters true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now will you give him your love,
nor think the labor vain,
Nor hate me when I come to call
to take him back again?
We answered in sincerity, Dear Lord, Thy will be done.
For all the joy this dog shall bring,
the risk of grief we'll run.
We'll shelter him with tenderness,
and love him while we may,
And for the happiness we will know,
we'll ever grateful stay.
But shall the angels call for him
much sooner than we planned,
We'll know the bitter grief that comes
and try to understand."

A Million Tears
A million times I've called you,
a million tears I've cried,
If Love could
have saved you,
you
never would've died.
In
life I loved you dearly
in
death I love you still,
In
my heart you hold a place,
no
other will ever fill.
It
broke my heart to lose you,
but
you didn't go alone
Part of me went with you,
the
day God took you home."
