Tamara Nickolaevna Grum-Grzhimailo


(1929 - 2007)


Tamara Nickolaevna Grum-Grzhimailo - well-known musical critic, member of Russia Journalist Union, Russia Literature Union and International Union of Musical Personalities. The author of more than thousand publications in publishing houses of Russia and of many other countries. She was born in Kharhkov city, Ukraine. Lives in Moscow from 1948. Graduated from piano faculty of Tchaikovski Moscow State Conservatoire and postgraduate studies in Gnesin's Musical Educator Institute for speciality "History and theory of music-performing art". First book of T.N.Grum-Grzhimailo - "About music performance" - was published in 1965. Other books were issued next: "About conductor's art", "Music and drama", "Bolshoi Theatre of USSR", "Piano's art", "Music performance", "Soviet Music" (in 5 languages), "About Shostakovich", "Rostropovich and His Contemporaries" (also in Chinese language), "Tchaikovski Competition. History, Faces, Events.", "XI Tchaikovski Competition. History, Faces, Events.", "Vladimir Krainev: Creative portrait", "Spivakov on edge between ages. Events. Thoughts. Dialogs." (in Chinese language), "Slava and Galya" (post-mortem edition). Great number of publications in journals and newspapers. On 10th of May, 2007, a few months before death, Tamara Nickolaevna was on air. Master on "Moscow's speaking" radio introduced her as friend and personal biographer of Mstislav Rostropovich. All that symbolizes the live and active part that author has played in musical life from 1960-th till 2007.
