What will you find on this site?
Shawn Hagen's STARBLADE BATTALION STORIES fanfic. This long-runing fanfic stories were writen by Shawn Hagen betwen 1997 and 1999 about the "Starblade Battalion" setting
for the Mekton Z game. Althoug they are not "canon" for the setting,
they became very popular, raising large amounts of feedback, and
many people uses them as a source of information for the setting.
They are good, too -would I make a site for a story I didn't write
if I wouldn't find it good? ;-)
These stories are also available on part (up to Ep. 20) at R. Talsorian Games website (from where I keep the HTML format they use) and as text
at the rec.arts.anime.creative FTP archive site.
The MEKTON STARBLADE STORY INFO page. This web site was originally mantained by S. Hagen, who later turned the site over me. There you'll find drawings, pics, designs and HTML mecha sheets of most designs apearing on the stories. UPDATED with the material Shawn wrote after finishing the story.
The Six Month Later Report. Just to show us that he's not totally abandoned Starblade, Shawn put together a six month later report with some information as to what Alincourt Shipyards and Elventh Hour Indutries are up to.Sort of a celebration for the upcoming first year aniversary the completelion of the story.
The SAC vs ODF Fleet Performance analisys. This is a thread that yours trully had a time ago on the Mekton Z Mail List with Jim Milligan and Brian Gilmore, authors of the SAC and ODF ships, regarding the performance of both fleets. What follows is a copy of the original post I made, plus the comments and counter-comments. It includes errata about the SBB ships.
My new MEK LAB page, featuring text versions of ALL the designs I made for the Starblade setting, most of them for Shawn's story, along with all the designs other people (Shawn Hagen, Michael Gilson, Josef Heilinger, Mark Berger, Nila Gudiel and J.G.R.Kingston) made for the same stories, the variants other people like David Crowe made of several SBB book mektons, and the new ODF and MS mecha made by Jim Milligan, writer of both sections of the book, and thereby considered oficial variants by everyone. Not needed to say, there are LOTS of designs on this page! In short, all designs there are either mine or Shawn's (which is whose is credited in the story -go and read it!) ;-) or belong to someone else who's credited on the pages.
Info about my old SBB campaign. On Spanish only, sorry, but the unit patch is multilingual :)
The SONG LYRICS page, featuring the lyrics of most of the songs that many people proposed
for the stories as open and closing credits, episode background
musics, character themes and so on. WARNING - Xtreme-sized HTML
file.
With my salutation to Keko, the guy who sent most of these (with Michael Gilson coming a
close second).
Also included fragments of some of the musics! And they do actually work now! (thanks Keko who warned me they didn't work). Note that there
are on .MOV format; you'll need Quicktime to hear them, but that should be already
installed on your computer if you're using Netsacape or MSIE.
I choose MOV over MP3 just 'cause many people can't hear MP3 but
almost everybody can play a movie. These are small fragments,
just a strophe and a chorus, but long enough to be recognized
so we can sing along the lyrics :) Also the sound is awful to
reduce space, but each file is about 400-500K - could be worse.
LEGAL NOTE: a) Plain English: There are people who eats out of selling this. I won't take
their bread outta their mouths, so I'll NOT include full MP3 nor Real Audio musics, only a few, low quality,
seconds so we can sing along. If you wanna full music, go and
buy it. b) Legalesse: Right now there's a legal void on my country about the exact
extension of the "fair usage" of copyrighted sound material on
electronic documents; as there is specifically allowed to reproduce
properly quoted disc covers on publications, we thereby assume
that the usage of recognizable portions of a copyrighted sound
on a publication for reference would be the equivalent. That could
change when said legal void disappears.
