(T&L RESOURCES OF THE
MALAYSIAN REGION)
This site provides some Educational and Informational material about Malaysia. Its resources
are both in English and in the Malaysian National Language or Bahasa Melayu. To date it
covers three major areas, namely the plant life, the animal life and the music of Malaysia.
The main objective is to provide some form of resources, guides or references to students,
teachers and parents on Malaysian Plants, Malaysian Animals and Malaysian Music.
New areas such as graphics (maps and logos), photography (landscape and places of interest)
and quiz (a question bank) on Malaysia are part of the plans for future expansion to these
site. To get a full picture of what is available, kindly visit the following sections below.
"Sumber Malaysiana" is a series of Web Sites of possible teaching, learning materials and resources on Malaysia.
To date "Sumber Malaysiana" has three main sections namely:-
FLORA MALAYSIANA, on plants of the Malaysian region.
FAUNA MALAYSIANA, on animals of the Malaysian region.
MUZIK MALAYSIANA, on music of the Malaysian region.
There are many ways to use the materials here. You can use it to identify local plants and animals that are around you. It can be used for browsing and light reading or as a source of reference for Scientific Names, English Names, Malay Names and Families of local plants and animals. All materials are provided with a colour photograph to help identification. Information on size, uses and short notes are also given. For Muzik Malaysiana, a simple sound file is provide to give an idea of the melody of the song. Music notations in traditional and numeric forms are now in the process of being added to each song as an extra resource.

These pages are developed by a teacher, through the assistance of contributors. The names of contributors are listed with each resource. You may also become a contributor by submiting your photograph or other materials and ideas.

The materials are free for non profit educational and non commercial use as a reference material, or for teaching in the classroom or at home in it's original form. The materials, or part of the materials shall not be copied, modified, loaned, sold, transmitted or transferred to third parties for other purposes.
Educational and informational material on the World Wide Web is a powerful form of sharing
information. Web pages offer a flexible way for its users to access and interact with
the information and resources. However unless one is familar with the design of the site, it is
difficult to access, interact so as to obtain the maximum benifit for that particular site.
This brief guide is designed to help you understand SUMBER MALAYSIANA better.
THE MAIN MENU
The Main Menu is called SUMBER MALAYSIANA. In short, it means resources of the Malaysian region. The URL is :-

Items 1 to 3 are the actual resource materials. Items 4 to 7 are the appendixes
which provides extra informations, essentials and guide on the project. By placing your mouse indicator on these hyper-links items, and clicking the left mouse button, will take you to the various items of information on the Main Menu. All parts of the Main Menu are written in "No-frame" or are without "frames". The three main Submenus are written in "frames". The new quiz section, now in the process of being developed is in "java".
THE FLORA MALAYSIANA SUBMENU
As the name suggested, this section deals with the plants of the Malaysian region. Todate it has records, photographs and information on more than 525 species of Malaysian plants. This is the first section of the project, and was started since early 1997. There are several "hyper-link" items on this submenu. By placing your mouse indicator on these hyper-links items, and clicking the right button will take you to the various sections of information on the plants of Malaysia. Some of the items are "Garden plants of Malaysia", "Wild plants of Malaysia", "Aquatic plants of Malaysia", "Medicinal plants of Malaysia", "Spices of Malaysia", "Fragrant plants of Malaysia", "Monocotyledonous plants of Malaysia" and "Dicotyledonous plants of Malaysia". New topics on the plant life of Malaysia will be added from time to time. At least 40 species of plants will be added to the site each year. New items, such as "Poisonous plants of Malaysia", "Gymnosperm plants of Malaysia", "Ferns of Malaysia" and "Fungi and Mushrooms of Malaysia" are also being planned.
THE FAUNA MALAYSIANA SUBMENU
This section deals with the animals of the Malaysian region. Todate it has records, photographs and information on more than 148 species of Malaysian animals. This is the second section of the project, and was started since early 1997. There are several "hyper-link" items on this submenu. Method of use is the same as in Flora Malaysiana mentioned above. Some of the items are "Arthropods of Malaysia", "Butterflies of Malaysia" - an expension on Malaysian Arthropods, "Fishes of Malaysia" now covering fishes of commercial importance, freshwater and marine fishes, "Birds of Malaysia", "Mammals of Malaysia" and "The Classification of Vertebrates". New topics on the animal life of Malaysia will be added from time to time. At least 40 species of animals will be added to the site each year from now on. New items, such as "Poisonous animals of Malaysia", "Reptiles of Malaysia", "Amphibia of Malaysia" and "Invertebrates of Malaysia" are also being planned.
THE MUZIK MALAYSIANA SUBMENU
Music of the Malaysian region. It has records, photographs and information on more than 138 titles of Malaysian songs and music. This is the third section of the project, and was started since early 1997. There are several "hyper-link" items on this submenu. Method of use is the same as in Flora Malaysiana mentioned above. Some of the items are "Anthems" - National and Aanthems of all the states of Malaysia,
"KBSR Songs" - Songs for the New Malaysian primary School Curriculum, "Kids Songs" - Malaysian children songs in Malay, English and Chinese, "Religious Songs" - Islamic, Christian and Buddhist Hymns, and "MOE's Songs" - Songs of the Ministry of Education. New topics on Malaysian Songs and Music will be added from time to time. At least 40 pieces of Music or Songs will be added to the site each year. New items, such as "Evergreen Songs of Malaysia" and "Patrotic Songs of Malaysia" are also being planned.
