They are the warrior race that has been with the Star Trek universe since the Original series. In the Original series, they
were the adversaries of the Federation. As the universe evolved, they became an uneasy ally and even for a short time, broke the alliance
and fought against the Federation. But when faced with a common enemy, proved a valued and fierce ally. If they were to be described by
comparison to terran cultures, Klingons are a cross between Samurai and Vikings.
The Samurai social structure is based on clans, with a clan leader. These clans swear an oath of loyalty to a lord. It is the busido way to die in service to one's lord or emperor. They had a strick code of honor and loyalty. If they failed in their duty, they would commit seppuku, and take their own lives rather than face dishonor. The Vikings also had a social structure based on clans. In these clans, the eldest male took over leadership of the clan in the event of the death of the clan leader. They were fierce warriors and to die in battle was a glorious honor. This meant they would go to Valhalla, the Hall of Warriors in the realm of Asgard. If a Viking warrior did a dishonorable act, they were osterized from their clan. If they died dishonorably, they went to the land of the dead to suffer for eternity. Klingons have a military social structure made up of individual houses, each with it own line leader or "Epetai". The eldest Klingon of a house assumed leadership of the house, in the event of the death of the Epetai. If there was no blood heir, the House Proctor assumed leadership. These houses, depending on their individual status, made up the High Council which governs the Klingon Empire. At the head of the High Council is the Chancellor. Klingon believe in dying a glorious death in battle and joining the Black Fleet in Sto'Vo'Kor. To die dishonorably meant going to Gre'thor, the land of the dishonored dead. Klingons have a code of honor that is unique to their culture. A Klingon's word, is their bond between Klingons. This view is carried over to other races but it depends on the race.

Web Design |
Many Klingon sites on the net are based on a theme concepts. They range from club sites ranging from ship chapters to whole sites about large clubs. Other sites include individual Klingon house sites, informational sites, cultural sites and so on. Once a theme is chosen, maintaining the same concept throughtout the site is important. Some themes include a popular aspect to many site on the web today, known as "Interfaces". Interfaces are navigation panels which provide a very good look to the site but function as a navigation menu. Choosing the right type of site that falls within your interest makes a big difference on your involvement and how well you portray it on the Internet. |
Graphics |
Klingon graphics have a unique style and flair all their own. Most of the graphics on the net have been produced by Klingon fans. A site with new and different graphics of a Klingon style, usually draws a lot of attention but should always be done with moderation. |
Content |
Content is important. To draw attention to your site, you need information that is not usually found on other Klingon sites. Unlike the federation side of Star Trek, only a little is known about Klingon aspects. Creating a new information must have some base or concept to work off but if it is expanded with a lot of imagination, it can become very popular in Klingon fandom and Internet interest. |
