AGM
Hate to say it whanau but the last AGM in Feb we had sucked. We advertised local news papers/National and sent out reminders on email plus t.v (Marae) to get infomation out to the whanau about the AGM. We used money (lack off) from Te Hape Marae Bank account to pay for the adverts. "Get off ya ass" and support your marae... We need your help and input, wheather it's good or bad on how to run YOUR marae.
Our marae is nothing without the people.
Mo taku he mo te raruraru, aroha mai.....

GOLF Cancelled
We are sorry to inform you that the Richard Wheto Memorial Golf Tornament during Labour Weekend 2004 has been cancelled.

Hiko Update
There is a hikoi held in Auckland to protest the government's continued opposition to Maori Rights to the foreshore and seabed.
Hikoi organiser Annette Sykes say's "only 10% of 4000 submissions were heard" Mann that suxs.
If our people don't stand up for their rights who knows where this road will take us. It's happened in places where government are selling land to overseas dealers. We do not want to end up like Hawaii where the home people have nothing.
Hikoi Date :Saturday October 16th 2004
The hikoi will leave Mayoral Drive in Auckland City at 10am and proceed down Queens St and making it's way to Orakei Domain, Okahu Bay.
There is parking avaliable at Orakei Marae

Elections Update
We have one of our whanau Piripi Crown running for Mayor/Councilor for the Waitomo District. Give him your support we might get our driveway sealed at the Te Hape hahahahaha
Goodluck Phil

D.I.Y Update
We have recieved a letter from Hula productions about the Marae D.I.Y.
Our marae was unsuccessful with the aplication with Hula productions but we made the short list so if any of the marae cannot meet the criteria (putea etc) then we may be selected.
Never mind another marae needed more help than ours...

Planting trees
UPDATE....
The trees we planted 2 years ago during summer were nipped by goats, we thought they would have a chance but we had the usual Benneydale winter and ended any hopes of suvival for our trees.
We have recieved a letter from one of the managers of the block saying he does not know where they've come from. But the other manager still has not replied to our letter, so we've taken steps into our own hands and used a method that safely removes them from Te Hape Marae. Thanx to Ra and Moira......

We had visitors from another country (USA) come to Te Hape and planted 100's of trees there (Natives) It replaced all the trees that had been destroyed by the goats and off course free labour yeeha.....
Nga mihi ki a koutou nga tangata o te whenua o Chief Running Bull cher cher....
