TAKE TWO

Just for fun, I’m starting a little game called Take Two.

Have you ever watched a scene and thought, “That’s just terrible! I could do better!” or “Oh, man! That was so close to being perfect!” Well, now’s your chance to be the writer. Take a recent scene and either re-write it completely, or re-write a part of it the way you think it would have been better.

Here are the ground rules:

1.  You can’t change the outcome or the direction of the storyline. If someone dies, that person still has to die. You can change the way they die, the dialogue, anything except the fact that they die.

2.  The main characters in the scene have to remain the same. You can change the peripheral characters, though. For instance, if you thought it would have been better for John to find Michael and Marcie on the roof instead of Kathryn, you can write it that way. But you can’t make it John and Kathryn making love on the roof and Michael finding them.

3.  Please mind your language. Write as if you had the network censors looking over your shoulder.

4.  Same thing goes for love scenes. Write as if you had the network censors looking over your shoulder.

The object is not to change the show, but to make it better. It’s your chance to be soap writer for a day.
