This is all about a new beginning in the PSFFL. In the year 2000 we went into cyber space with CBS Sportsline, and fantasy football took off in a big way all over the world. To date, it has grown to be one of the WORLDS most popular pastimes. We have always taken pride in being on the cutting edge in the PSFFL and in 2000 we led the way! CBS Sportsline has had their problems getting to the point that they are now. But, with features such as live scoring, weekly newsletter capability, and a wealth of information at your finger tips. It is now the fantasy football program that sets the standard for all the rest. Ahhh, and the Haglund cup! What can I say!

The Ivar Haglund keep clam memorial trophy is finally coming
This is the sort of newsletter you will see from now on in the PSFFL, accompanied, by a photo depicting the week's most prominent action. This week I am proud to display a likeness of the very first championship trophy in league history. It will be Gold rather than silver and it will carry the names of every owner and team that has won the Chowder Bowl. It will be known as the Ivar Haglund keep clam memorial trophy. Tradition is big in the PSFFL, and this trophy signifies those feelings. I am very happy to have run across the company that manufactures these trophies specifically for fantasy leagues like ours, that wants something special besides money awarded to the winner each year. Because in leagues like ours, it's not about the money, it's about the game and competition against friends that bands us together each year. We have a special brotherhood here and I am proud to be a part of it. Because it is truly a special fraternity we have created over the past twelve years. I have been yearning for this moment for ten years, which is when we took a vote to name the Chowder Bowl and it's eventual award. We wanted to stay within the tradition of the great Pacific Northwest. At the time, Ivar Haglund was a name synonymous with the Seattle area, where the league first came about. These are the names we came up with back then and I am happy to carry out the wishes of those that helped create our league. The trophy will be passed on to the league champion each year, complete with a nameplate depicting the owner and team name. I am hoping to award this trophy this year at our annual get together. Donations are welcome; a few of you have already contributed. But we are still short of the $140.00 needed to purchase the trophy. It stands 14.5"x 11" wide and weighs about 8 pounds. It's a worthy reward! Please pitch in.
I have also compiled a PSFFL record book that will hold all of the scoring records and winners of past seasons. Also, there is a PSFFL Hall of Fame that is now in written form. It was started a few years ago. But kind of fizzled since we did not have enough history to sustain it on a yearly basis. But, after twelve years, all of that has changed. It is my goal to have the record book and Hall of Fame compiled onto a web page that will be accessible through a link on the PSFFL home page.
The PSFFL logo you see on the page (not pictured, it was lost) is something I created at the end of last year, and was hoping to have available for embroidery onto caps, jackets, and other assorted sportswear. Why should the NFL be the only Football League with an official line of clothing, right? Unfortunately or fortunately, however you want to see it. My imagination sometimes runs amuck, and I have come up with what I feel is a better design. It is a figure of Mt Rainier with the threads of a football running through it. I will need more time to create it. But the current logo will do for now.
It's All About Hoisting The Cup!

With the PSFFL 2000 campaign about to fire off. I thought it appropriate to show off a little. Sure we will be playing for the biggest purse in PSFFL history, with over $500.00 going to the Chowder Bowl Champion. But, any true PSFFLer will tell you. It aint about the money. It's about hoisting the cup! Having your name etched into PSFFL history forever, for all to see.
Here is a photo (Photo to come) of the actual Ivar Haglund Keep Clam Memorial Trophy, in all its glory. Bob Lee has this baby in his possession, as he is the reigning "1999" Champion. This baby stands 14 ½ X 11 inches tall and weighs in at over 8 pounds. It has every champion in league history engraved on the side. Who knows, maybe this year your name will be added to the PSFFL elite?
