Foreword
In 1993 I decided that it might be fun to have an official Hall of Fame for our fantasy football league. Every year owners would have players and teams that accomplished tremendous feats. Upon doing so, they almost always called me on the phone and asked questions like; has anyone ever scored that many points before? Who is the all-time leader in this, who has the record for that? I would always dig through my records and try to answer every question. Not only for their benefit, but for mine too!
I announced to the league in 1993 that I was starting a Hall of Fame and by 1995 I would officially open it up to league members. I followed through with my promise, but the owners never did show much interest. I would nominate players, teams, and owners. Put their names on a ballot, and send them off to the owners so that they could vote on the nominees.
The idea kind of flopped. So in 1996 and “97” I gave up on the Hall of Fame. It looked more like a personal shrine than anything else anyway. I was a little embarrassed about that, since it was not my intension to build a personal shrine. It just worked out that way because of my success in the league.
As time passed, the league grew and more history was made. With the urging of a longtime PSFFL owner, I began thinking about the Hall of Fame again. This past spring my brother Lou, gave me a web site creation kit, complete with software and a three hundred-page book.
I have had fun building the page and am excited to have this Hall of Fame become reality. What better way to display it than on the web? Here it is available to anyone that may be begging the questions; I wonder who holds the record for most points scored in a season? Who was the 1995 Chowder Bowl champion? How did the league begin anyway, and who started this whole mess?
Well, the answers to all those questions and more are finally at your fingertips. This is a work in progress and I have plans for expansion. I want to create an archive for old newsletters and score sheets. There will be archives that show the results of every championship game, including the newsletters that go with them. Archives that will show the career win loss records of every owner the league has ever had, and much more. So come back often to see what's new!
I would like to encourage all past, present, and future owners of the Puget Sound Fantasy Football League to contribute as much as they want. I can use pictures, stories, memories and anything else you can think of that might help increase the knowledge base and quality of this Hall of Fame.
It still looks a bit like a personal shrine, but I have a feeling with the quality of ownership we have now. That is all about to change!
Enjoy!
