:::Recap::::
"No, it can't be. Or can it? Are you trying to tell me something?" She
asked, looking up at the sky. "What? What do you want? Three of our songs
on the radio, one of which was never released, in a row. What?"
:::Chapter 2:::
Skye sat silent for a minute, listening for something, anything. The song
had long since been over and now there were commercials on the radio.
"This is so stupid. It was just a coincidence." She mumbled to herself,
putting the car back into drive and setting off again.
As she drove on, her cell caught her eye on the passenger seat.
'WTF? I left that at home. I swear I did…yes I did! It was on the kitchen
table. How did it get there?'
As she stopped at a stoplight, she reached over and cautiously picked it up.
It was on and there was a number across the screen, as if she had dialed
it and just needed to press send.
"Zen? Why is Zen's number on here? I never call her from the cell."
A car's beeping broke her out of her thoughts and she looked up, startled.
The light had turned green. She threw the phone back on the seat and
slammed down on the accelerator. On the way home, she kept on looking over
at it, thinking. She finally slammed her hand on the steering wheel and
turned down the nearest side street.
"Okay! I get it! I don't know how or why you are doing this but stop! I'm
going to Zen's. Happy?" Skye yelled as she turned down her best friend's
block.
She zoomed into the driveway and got out of the car, buttoning up her trench
coat against the cool weather. As she slowly walked up the walkway, she
looked all around her. She just had this feeling that she couldn't shake
off. Before she even got to the door, it swung open and out ran a 5'9 woman
with blue hair cut up to her chin in the front and shorter but layered in
the back with brown eyes surrounded by rings of yellow with black rectangle
framed glasses. She had on black glittery bellbottoms with a matching top.
"Skye! You came!" She shrieked, stopping just in front of her friend.
"Course I did ZZ Top. Sup?" Skye asked casually.
"I told you not to call me that! Anyways, you're just on time. Come in."
Zen led the way into her house, Skye following with her hands in her
pockets, still looking around. She was led into Zen's living room where she
saw at least 20-30 people milling around.
"Zen…" Skye said warningly.
"Skye, I'm sorry but … Ok, I have no excuse. I just wanted you to come and
be here with me. You don't even hafta talk to anyone if you don't wanna.
Just you being here is a big step and I understand that. Just stay for a
little while? Please?" Zen asked, pleading with her eyes.
Skye looked around and sighed.
"Fine. I might as well meet your friends while I'm here anyway. I don't
want to seem like a bitch."
Zen smiled at her friend and started walking. Skye followed her reluctantly
to a group of 8 people.
"Eh hemmmm." Zen said rather loudly.
They all stopped talking at once and looked at her, noticing Skye behind
her.
"I would like to introduce to you all Ms. Skye Arianna Hurley. Skye, this
is Brian Thomas Littrell, his wife Leighanne Littrell, Kevin Scott
Richardson, his wife Kristen Rose Richardson, Howard Dwayne Dorough, Jessica
Lynn Goldman, his girlfriend, Nickolas Gene Carter, and Emily Iris Rosen,
his um, friend?" Zen introduced with her nose up.
The group laughed and Skye managed a smile and nodded.
"Nice to meet you all." She said quietly.
"Likewise." Brian said, speaking for the group and smiling at her.
There was an awkward silence while everyone studied their new acquaintance.
Skye noticed them all staring at her and shot Zen a look.
"So anyway, we must be going. I have to introduce my lovely friend to
everyone. Goodday." Zen said, crooking her finger at Skye.
Skye smiled at them once more and followed Zen to just about everyone in the
room. Of course there was people there that she knew. Some had actually
been her best friends at one point, such as Jocelyn, Nikki and Sara. Not
that they had fought or anything but after high school, they all grew apart.
Through out the night, Zen stayed close to Skye and Skye was happy for
that. The people she knew wouldn't stop staring at her as if they didn't
understand why she was acting like she was and the people she had just met
were staring at her because they wanted to know why she was so quiet and
reserved. Zen was talking to Jason, a friend of theirs from high school
when the door opened and 2 people walked in.
"Oh god. Why'd he have to bring her?" Zen whispered.
Skye looked back at the door and saw a guy about 5'9, with a black skull cap
on over his black hair, with round glasses over his brown eyes, tattoos up
both his arms and earrings filling both his ears, as well as his "lapel".
Seemingly attached to him was a woman that gave Skye chills up and down her
back…
