Whenuapai Airshow 2002

After his birthday, Henry came to Auckland, Anne-Marie flew off to Sydney the next day to see Lisa. I was to have Henry to myself (well sharing with peter) for a whole week. I was really looking forward to it, and was not disappointed. Neither was Henry. The Airforce (what's left of it) put on a show the first weekend he was here. As soon as we got out of the car he took off towards the planes, Full speed for the first hour, didn't stop, from one plane to the next.

Well eventually you do need a little rest, and was I lucky, to happen to pick the ice-cream that came in a cup. a couple of hours later I got his drink and brought food out. It disappeared really quickly. So he started looking through his bag, and I had to tell him, he had eaten the lot. He then wanted to look in my bag, but I explained I had no food in it. He just looked at me and said 'Wallet'. Well yes, if you don't bring food, you have to buy it, so we went off to buy some hot chips. Henry usually doesn't eat food until it is almost cool, but I think he ate those still hot.

The Airshow wasn't all planes, Peter thinks these were fueltanks out of aircraft wings, filled with water. The kids had loosened a valve at the top, so as they jumped on them they got wet and dirty, what more could a kid want. Henry watched for a while, and then wated to have a go.

Henry lasted 4 hours at the airshow, longer than I would have lasted on my own.
He gave up just before the parashutes. The most lasting memory of the show was the 'Dansicng helicpoters'. They had 2 helicpters doing a dance to music played over the loudspeaker system. Really well done, and it left a real impression on Henry.
