Bridges lettered four years in basketball and
cross country track at Howard High. An important part in three of the Howard Hustling Tigers thirteen appearances in
state basketball tournament competition with a record of 36 wins and only 2 loses during his last season and a #1 team ranking
in the state. Senior season stats 14.8 points, rebounds, .574 field goal percentage, .472 3 point percentage,
.920 free throw percentage. Junior season Bridges finished second in the state in three point percentage behind then high
school senior Tony Delk of Brownsville who is now playing with the NBA Atlanta Hawks

Former Howard High basketball coach; Inducted into Tennessee basketball hall of fame.
A coach of many sports but mostly well known and respected for his basketball accomplishments.
Began coaching career at Howard in 1959 as a head baseball coach and assistant/head football coach. In 1961 was appointed
head track coach winning a state championship in his first year. In 1969 was appointed head basketball coach and athletic
director until his retirement in1998. Coach Bowles is considered a legend in Chattanooga Hamilton County area and all across the state of Tennessee for what he accomplished in 29 years
as head basketball coach at Howard High
School. Considered among his peers as the Dean Smith of High School basketball, Bowles teams has recorded 616 wins and 260
loses. Also his basketball teams qualified for the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association (TSSAA) 16 times and made
13 trips to the State Tournament site, where he finished runner-up twice. His other basketball coaching accomplishments include
26 winning seasons, four 30 game winning seasons, 10 TSSAA regional championships, 13 TSSAA district championships, State
tournament trips three consecutive years twice, and won 62 consecutive district games during one period. Most memorable season
was the 1993 season where his team finished with an overall record of 36-2 with a number one ranking in the state and at one
point being ranked among the top twenty five teams in the nation. Bowles has coached several players that has went on and
played in the pro ranks including Gerald Cunningham whom was drafted by the Nets in the 1977 NBA draft, All american basketball
and football player Reggie White whom was drafted by the Philidelphia Eagles in the 1984 NFL draft. Reggie would later join
the Green Bay Packers and win a Super Bowl and is the NFL all time leader in sacks. Johnny Taylor was drafted by the Orlando
Magic in the 1997 NBA draft, Keith Bridges after a short stay in the minor leagues of the Continental Basketball Association
(CBA-Fury) and International Basketball Association (IBA-Hawks) has had a succesful ongoing career overseas, and Terdell Sands
whom was drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2001 NFL draft.
