Erik Gott (Sr., M/F)
1st Team All City Selection in 2005 and 2nd Team in 2004. Broke school single-season
record on goals (15), led team in goals, assists (11) and points (38) in 2005. Co-captain in 2004 and 2005. Game
high with 3 goals against Marion-Franklin, Eastmoor, and Briggs. Game high with 3 assists against Marion-Franklin. Offensive
Player of the Year. Nominee of the All-American Academic in 2005.
Sobin Chea Chan (Sr., F)
1st Team All City in 2004 and 2005. Tied 2nd on goals (11) and 3rd on assists (7) in 2005. Potent
aerial attack ability. "A player with tremendous speed and a very dangerous threat to defenders" as described by Coach Lee.
Co-captain in 2005. Comeback Player of the Year. Led team on goals (6) in 2004.
Simon Velasquez (Jr., D)
1st Team All City Selection in 2004 and 2005, 2nd Team All City Selection in 2003. 1st Team
All District in 2004 and 2nd Team All District in 2005. Defender Player of the Year 2005, ability to shut out opposing threats.
Played keeper during 2003 and 2004 season and broke school record in saves (131, 203) both seasons. Runner up on City
League Player of the Year 2004. City League Player of the Year 2005. Led a defense that produced 6 shutouts and 1.15 GAA in
2005. During West's South Division run, led defense that allowed 3 goals in 5 league matches.
Anthony Sieh (Jr, D)
2nd Team All City Selection in 2005. Member of the Super Sophomore class that winning 2
division titles in 3 years. Part of the defense that provided 6 shutouts (3 during league matches) and 1.15 GAA (0.6 during
league matches) and guided West to its second apperance to City League Championship in 3 years. Athletic with great size and
speed. "An unselfish player that works hard everyday to help his team" as described by Coach Lee.
La Chan (Jr., K)
Volunteered to play keeper in order to move Velasquez as fullback, resulted one of the best
defense in school history and City League 2005. Set defensive team record with 6 shutouts and 1.15 GAA (0.6 during league
matches). Great communication skills and awareness of opposing offense, ability to manuveur teammates to stop opposing attacks
beforehand. 1st Team All City Selection in 2005, 2nd Team in 2004. 2nd on school record book in saves (139).
Abdullahi Adam (So., D)
2nd Team All city Selection in 2005. Anchored a defense that allowed 3 goals in 5 leagues
matches and a 1.15 GAA in 2005. Solely responsible for counter-attacks that generated 12 goals this season. "Defensive minded
with offensive power" as described by Coach Lee. 110% Award in 2005. Led team on tackles (70) and steals (68). Rookie of the
Year in 2004.
Gjergji Xhemali (Sr. M/F)
2005 Most Versatile Player of the Year. Have played every single position on this
season including keeper. Began his position as a forward and found his strength on midfield halfway through the season. Became
the top midfielders and dominated the position in the City League. 2nd Team All City Selection. Born in Albania.
Pat Hoye (Jr., M)
Reserve Player of the Year 2005. Started first 3 maches during the season. Reliable
and continued to improve throughout the season. Played more aggressive toward the end of 2005.
Brian Reyes (Fr, M)
Rookie of the Year 2005. Started as freshman in all 14 matches during the season. Good crossing skill and position himself
well to defend outside midfield.
Ali Hassan (Sr., M)
1st Team All City Selection. Scored 3 goals vs Brookhaven at the League Championship, CCL Championship MVP. "Very possible
the best soccer player in the history of West High School" by Coach Lee. Solely responsible for the come-from-behind victory
over Walnut Ridge when he shut down opposing player Ben Coasta in the 2nd half. Unselfish and realiable.
Ahmad Jilo (So., M)
Great defender and never give up. Arrived late and joined the team in September along with Hassan and Adan. Part of the
group that brought Cowboys soccer from above average to a serious contender for the League Championship in 2005.
Bashi Adan (So., M)
Another member of the late-arriving group. Very coachable and improved over the course of the season.
