Here it is. There are a few surprises also...*snicker*
So here’s how it went down...
We
left from Santa Barbara at approximately 10:30 a.m. We were on our way to Los Angeles. We arrived in L.A. at about 1:15 p.m.
We were, well, shall I say lost. We asked numerous people for directions but they all gave us the wrong ones! We were planning
on shopping on Melrose for a little bit before the show, but decided not to, and just went to the theatre. We, again, got
lost. Finally someone had us follow them to the road that led to the theatre. God bless them! After we parked my excitement
was going wild. I took pictures of the front of the theatre, and being the dummy I am, I opened the camera before it was done
rewinding. So in results of my stupidity I exposed the film that had my pictures of our trip and my pictures of the theatre
on it. Oh well! I just got more film! Haha. I retook my pictures of the theatre, then we went and got some lunch at Greco’s
New York Pizza. Finally, it was time to go to the theatre! I walked into the front entrance and was just in aw. First of all
the Pantages Theatre is gorgeous. And then to see all of the Hairspray photos and souvenirs all over just made it that much
more exciting! We found out seats. As the lights dimmed I could hardly control my emotions, and I started to tear up knowing
that my idol, Marissa Jaret Winokur, was behind that curtain. The curtain rose and there Marissa was in her bedroom singing
so amazingly! I couldn’t help but sing along beneath my breath. Even with all I knew about the musical there were so
many surprises that made it that much better! The choreography is amazing. The charisma of the characters was priceless. I
would have to say that one of my favorite scenes would have to be in the jailhouse with Link and Tracy. “You look so
beautiful behind bars!” “It must be the low-watt institutional lighting.” How great! The laughs that Bruce
Vilanche got were well deserved. The blank stare that he gave after every pun was well enough something to laugh at! I bought
all of my souvenirs during intermission. I figured that I might as well stock up while I’m there. I got a sweatshirt,
a pink baby doll tee, a black hat, an “I *heart* Link” pin, and a Hairspray pin. I loved our seats. As each person
waited to run up to stage they stood right next to us! They were all within two feet from us! I could have touched them!!
And get this, Matt looked me in the eyes! Yay!! As each scene ended I grew with anticipation of being at the stage door when
Marissa came out. As Tracy made her last spin on stage I thought that I was going to lose my voice from screaming so hard!
My hands were also bright red from clapping so hard. The woman in front of me must have thought that I was crazy--I wouldn’t
be surprised if I blew her eardrum! When the curtain closed I made my way through the crowd and outside to the stage door.
First out was Kianna Underwood who signed my playbill. Then next out was Todd Susman. He said that he was glad we enjoyed
the show and signed my playbill. Next out was Matt Morrison *hottie*. I saw him walk around the corner and I just melted.
I leaned over and whispered to my cousins “Please wipe me up if I melt into a puddle!” He worked his way down
the line (there really weren’t too many people there which was kind of nice). When he got to my cousin he touched her
“I *heart* Link” pin and said “Cute pin!” She almost died haha. He took a picture with us and then
walked on. The guards started to take down the ribbons that separated the fans and the stars. They said that we were going
to have to leave because they had to get ready for the next show. They closed the gate behind us. I just kind of stood there
like “No!”. I started to kind of tear up thinking, “Oh no...I’m really not going to get to meet her!
No!!! This is my one chance, I have to meet her!” And we started to walk back to the car. I looked back over my shoulder
and saw Matt Morrison standing there talking to some of his fans. I said “Cat...come here.” And I walked up to
Matt. He was saying good bye to all of the people and he turned to leave and I said “Excuse me Mr. Morrison...”
(Yes...I said Mr. Morrison *dork*) He was like “Yes...” and I said “Would you happen to know where Marissa
is? I REALLY need to meet her! Please.” And he was like “Probably in her dressing room...” I said “I
really need to see her!” and he turning around like “Umm...” and he said “Oh! There she is!”
and he patted me on the back and walked off. I just stood there with my jaw dropped open. I pointed to her (her back was to
me) and was like “Cat...I’m going to ralph. Oh my God.” And my cousin had to force my arm back to my side.
She was signing all the playbills of the little girls standing outside the door. She posed for a couple pictures, and then
got to my cousin. I just stood there like a psycho saying “Oh my God, oh my God, oh my God...” over and over.
Cat was like “This is my cousin.” and she looked at me. I handed her my playbill and she was in the middle of
signing it and I said “Marissa...I have something to tell you. I think someone is pretending...” and she pointed
at me and said, “No! It’s you. From the website! I can’t remember your name...Deanna...” and I said
“Dannah” and she goes “Dannah! Yes! Your website!” and I said “Oh my God! The was you who e-mailed
me?” And she said “Yes! I’m sorry, my computer broke so I couldn’t e-mail you back. I’m sorry.”
Of course I was about to die because I didn’t think that it was actually her. I said "Am I dreaming? Pinch me" (I seriously
thought I was dreaming!) and my cousins pinched me. I said "Ok...I'm here...I can die now!" and Marissa said "No! Don't die!
You're a cool chick!" She called me a cool chick about 5 times. Yay! My cousin told me that I turned ghost white when she
said that it was her. How sweet is that of her to take the time to look at my site! And then to take the time to e-mail me.
Ah! She signed a few more playbills while talking to me and we had a little conversation after the people left. She was like
“So you’re out here on vacation?” I said “Yeah, with my Aunt Dani, who’s right there.”
and she said “Oh! You’re a cool aunt!” And I said “As you can tell, I’m from Wisconsin, the
sun kind of got to me!” she said “I see, *laugh* I can see it on you’re nose!” (My face was peeling
horribly that day and I felt like such a goon!) And my aunt told her that I wanted to get my hair like hers and she said “Well
it does look like mine! Mine’s just *blah* today. *laugh*”. We talked about my website too. She said that she
really appreciates it, and loves it so much. She said thanks like a million times. I of course got a picture with her, and
she gave me a hug. Before I left she gave me another hug. So I got TWO hugs! Yay! But oh my God! Isn’t that amazing?
And she remembered who I was! I feel so special! She said that she was gonna go back inside and sleep. I was like “I
was scared you weren’t going to come out!” And she’s all “I wasn’t sure if you said you were
coming today or tonight, so I came out to find you!” Ahh!! The show was amazing and I got to meet my idol. I told
her that I was gonna be seeing it again in Wisconsin, and that it was too bad she wasn’t going to be in it, but she
complimented the other Tracy. I don’t know what the chances of me ever seeing her again are, but hey, I don’t
think I’ll ever stop trying! Ha! She’s amazing!!! Better than I had imagined. I can’t believe that I just
waltzed up to Matt and asked him where Marissa was haha, that’s so not me! But thank God I did...if I hadn’t I
might have already been gone. And I’m blown away by the show...I can’t wait to see it when it’s in Wisconsin.
I am working on getting my film developed. When I do I will be sure to put the pictures on the site. Besides, I promised Marissa
that I’d put the one of us on there. Yay!! I’m such a lucky girl!! It feels so good to have your dream come true...
