Some words on the meaning of pedagogy

To avoid any misunderstandings, I have to explain that I study the history and theory of childrearing practices, not of teaching methods. I'm not sure whether "childrearing" is the correct term, but I mean the way in which parents raise their children. On this page I will write about this subject, and collect relevant links. If anyone has comments, questions, links, etc. please contact me at the address below.

Some of the subjects I'm working on:

1. What was childhood like in the middle ages? And before? And is childhood a universal thing in our modern times?

2. How should one raise her/his children? Some famous educators and their ideas on the subject.

3. Is the family falling apart? Some say it does, others say it doesn't. After reading about their viewpoints, what do you say?

See my research paper on this subject: My paper in English For now only the first chapters, or the Dutch version: Mijn scriptie over het gezin

Well, as you can see I have some big plans here. I hope to have something to show next week. Please come back and check!
