History

There are those that believe that the ancient Eskimos are the ancestors of all the peoples that had populated North and South America. One can see similarities between a lot of Eskimo and Indian artifacts.

Discovery/Recovery

Today, Eskimo people are the only ones allowed to dig for artifacts at their ancient village sites. They in turn sell their finds to acquire necessities for daily living; such as ammunition, gasoline, and fuel oil to hunt and provide food for their families and heat for their homes.

Gallery Items

The artifacts presented in the Eskimo Artifacts Gallery, date back 100 to 2000 years or more. Most of the artifacts are made from ivory or bone. Although pure white when first made, some of the ivory artifacts are almost black now.
