I was only a small child, but I can remember the tail end of WW11 the frightening sounds of the 'Air-Drills' , the 'Ration Stamps' that we used to purchase our food, clothes and gasoline, (which all were limited anyway). Here GREATEST BATTLE IN HISTORYanother WW11 Site.
The first President I remember was FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT and his home in Warm Springs, Ga., just an hour or so from where we lived in Alabama.
Then There was the THE GREAT DEPRESSION. You know, with as much suffering, hard times, heartache, fighting, killing and dying going on, I could never understand WHY THAT PERIOD IN HISTORY was called "The Great". There was PEARL HARBOR then the ATOM BOMB and ENOLA GAY.
I Suppose THIS is a good place as any to hop up on my ' band stand ' and get it out. You know, as much as we may disagree with each other, we would not try to 'wipe' each other out. Nor should any Nation do so. GOD never approves of Nations attempting to abolish each other. Man can be so inhuman, and revengeful at times, it is scary to think what he might become. HE tells us to 'Pray For Peace,' but also says 'There Will Always Be Wars '. I feel there isn't a day goes by that someone, somewhere remembers those two tragedies and wishes they had never occurred.
Then, there was the most EVIL man EVER,ADOLPH HITLER. Don't misunderstand me, I am NOT sorry I lived in this age, because Every Age and Generation has it's own trials, wars, good times and bad and rewards. However, I am very thankful that all my memories aren't about the War.
The South was good at having all day Singings
with dinner on the
grounds,
and our little country Methodist
Church was no exception. There were
always
things
for the children to do. There were always the 'MAY DAY' programs
every year at the country club, the supper auctions were great too.
Then
there was the 'Big Band's: Harry James, Artie Shaw, Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman,
to name a few. The Boogie-Woogie and the 
WALTZ. And
the AUTOMOBILES, Oh-h-h-h,
YES!!! THEY were CLASS! The movies ... how many of you remember the first 'sex'
movie you ever saw? Hey, listen up!! I may be a little older than SOME of
you, but I'm not dead, yet! The first one I can remember seeing was
"MOM and DAD". Why, it was so-o-o-o bad that the manager of our
'STRAND'
Theater
had a
R.N.
stand
by at every viewing, with a gurney, in case someone got sick
and/or fainted. And do you know, some did! Miss Olgetree, the R.N. , had
her hands full one night. (I remember
thinking about the
Movie "YUCK")!Since
you weren't allowed to see
the movie (under 18) without an
adult, my
older
sister took me. (My Mother and Grand Parents would roll over in their grave right now
if they only knew what's out there now).
Speaking Of SEX! Do YOU want to do something about the porn on the Internet? Then take this survey, and / or let YOUR opinion / voice be heard. Please DON'T get me wrong here! I DO BELIEVE IN FREE SPEECH as much as anyone, But I Don't believe that gives me the right to talk any which way to children or even show them everything that's out there just because I DO believe in FREE SPEECH. I wouldn't do that here in the 'REAL' World and I wouldn't do it HERE ON THE INTERNET, NOR DO I THINK YOU SHOULD BE ALLOWED!! Well, so much for THAT!
We know NOW how Our SUPREME COURT ruled on this issue. However, It won't hurt to continue writing or Email YOUR CONGRESSMAN. By the way, check THISone out, you'll like what's here. I, as well as YOU, know that if WE can find what we want to find that we feel our children or Grand-Children shouldn't see or read, THEY can find it also, and probably sooner ... THAT is very disturbing to me. Our Children and Grand Children are very SMART when they want to be, and all the 'Nanny's' and 'Cyber-Patrol's' aren't going to keep their curious minds out of anything they want to see on the Internet. I know that and you do also! It's too bad that something so good has to be made into evil by so many people that doesn't care anything about our children. PLEASE, use these addresses for YOUR Congressmen. I don't know what can be done to PROTECT OUR CHILDREN and at the same time 'keep our OLDER CHILDREN' happy---but, surely there IS an answer.
