Dear Eleanor:
I  have  two  daughters,  8 and 9 years old,  who
have their biological father's last name.  He nev-
er phones or visits. In six years,  he's seen them
                            once, for an hour.

I would like to change their last name to my  mai-
den name.  I have full custody of my girls. My ex
has supervised visitation that he hasn't taken.

I married a wonderful man seven years ago,  and
he is truly their father.  I have no idea where their
biological father lives.  I've asked his sister;   and
she,  too,  has no clue.   He has been in and out of
jail on drug charges,  and seeing as he isn't paying
child  support  or showing any interest in the girls,
I don't feel they should have to use his  last  name.
How do I go about changing their names  with the
least amount of trouble?  I can't afford a lawyer.

                                                                                           L.A., Calif.
Dear Lala:
You need a lawyer.  Have you called Legal Aid?

And,  by the way,  why your maiden name?  What a-
bout that  "wonderful man"  who is  "truly their fath-
er."  Maybe he could adopt them.  Ask your lawyer.

HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE:

Remember, if you don't want to receive any more of this inane crap,
just hit your "Reply" button and type in the subject line, "GET THESE
TABLOID HEADLINES OUT OF MY LIFE AND FUCK OFF!"

But remember also, you have to spell and punctuate the message
exactly as it appears above €“ without quotation marks, and without
that redundant "Re: " that appears in so many subject lines €“ or you
will keep getting this shit!  ("Cut and paste" won't work, either.  We
have a special filter to detect that.)

Dear Eleanor:

I am an adult in my mid-30's and have no con-
tact with my father.  My parents divorced soon
after I was born and shared custody of me.  As
I stayed with my father, he began molesting me.
I told my mom because I knew something was
not right.  We went to court; he received a little
jail time and was on probation a short while.  I
                            stopped all contact with him.

He has tried a few times in recent years to have a
relationship with me. He even went as far as con-
tacting me when I was about to turn 15,  demand-
ing that I spend time with him. We went to court
again,  and a permanent restraining order wan en-
                            tered against him.

Now he is very ill,  and I still want nothing to do
with him.   I have an older brother who sees him
and takes care of his needs. Am I obligated to my
father?  Should I have to pay for or plan or attend
                            his funeral?

Don't forget!  Readers interested in intellectual dissection of
important current events are invited to attend the  Weekly  World
News Round Table at the offices of Borf Books  outside Browns-
ville, Kentucky,  just after church every Sunday.   Guest speakers
lined up for meetings in the near future include Michael Bolton.

We
have a special filter to detect that.)

teacher.  He never wanted to commit to mo-
                            nogamy

After 10 months  he informed me that he is a-
bout to enter a relationship with a 22-year-old.
He said it was nothing I did, but he is attracted
to younger guys.    He said also that he will al-
ways be in my life  and  will  never  let  me go.
He said we could see each other  secretly,   but
no more dates or public outings. I can see him
now only when the new boy friend is working
                            or out of town.

I'm afraid not to go over when he calls because
                            I'm in love with him, and I'm afraid if I don't a-

Roots and grafts:
"Peduncle" is a real word, defined in most dictionaries as "a stalk-
like structure, esp. a large bundle of nerve fibers within the brain."
But  in  our youth  it meant an automobile on the highway at night
with only one headlight burning:  If the girl of a couple saw it first,
she would yell "Popeye!" or "Peduncle!" and thereby earn the right
to slap the boy. If the boy saw it first, he could yell "Padiddle!" and
have the right to kiss the girl.  "Padiddle" is not in most dictionaries,
but  Wikipedia  has an entry on "padiddle"  referring to the boy-girl
game and also to "popeye," but not to "peduncle."  (The Urban Dic-
tionary, by the way, defines "peduncle" as "your uncle that molested
you as a child.") .
Quotation of the week:

Dear Eleanor:
I am a single male in my  early  50's  who
looks younger.   A married couple expres-
sed their desire for me to become intimate
                            with them in a threesome

They know I am a religious person and told
me they  don't  consider  it to be adultery or
coveting  since  all  are  willing participants
and there is no desire to break up a marriage.

I told them I'd think about it and get back to
                            them.
I have never participated in such acti-
vity, but I am now very Curious –
                                                                                 in California
Dear Curiosity:
You're religious?  You might want to look up
the 7th and 10th Commandments.    And  see
how  dictionaries  define  their  words.   You
might want to look up "hypocrite" while you-
're at it.  But enjoy yourself.  And them, too.

HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE:

Remember, if you don't want to receive any more of this inane crap,
just hit your "Reply" button and type in the subject line, "GET THESE
TABLOID HEADLINES OUT OF MY LIFE AND FUCK OFF!" But
remember also, you have to spell and punctuate the message exactly as
it appears above €“ without quotation marks, and without that redundant
"Re: " that appears in so many subject lines€,“ or you'll keep getting this
shit! ("Cut &  paste" won't work, either. We have a filter to detect that.)

DISCUSSION GROUP:

   Don't  forget!  Readers  interested  in
intellectual dissection of important cur-
rent  events  are  invited  to  attend  the
Weekly World News  Round  Table  at
the  offices  of   Borf   Books   outside
Brownsville,    Kentucky,    just   after
church  every  Sunday.    Guest  speak-
ers lined up for  meetings  in  the  near
future include Greta Thunberg.
