The 1841-O Eagle is the first branch mint issue of the denomination.
It has the lowest mintage of any Liberty Eagle prior to the 1859-O.
It is a very rare coin, unknown in mint state with very few examples
known in AU condition. When an AU example was donated to the ANA
in 1994 it was a major news story in Coin World. I have a politically
incorrect attitude towards such donations. I would prefer to see such
rarities sell at auction, as they can generate publicity about
the under-rated Liberty Eagle series.
This issue sometimes comes weakly struck.
