1846O
Mintage: 81,780
Usually comes softly struck in the centers.
The 1846-O Liberty Eagle is a fairly common No Motto Eagle.
However, it has several interesting varieties. The common
ones are those with the mintmark over EN of the reverse
legend, while the rare varieties have the mintmark over the
space between N and D.
Douglas Winter lists the two common varieties as 1) Normal
date and stars, and 3) Normal stars, '6' in date repunched.
The two rare varieties are 2) Normal date, thin stars, and
4) Normal stars, '6' in date with different signs of repunching
than variety #3. #3 and #4 can also be distinguished by
mintmark location.
