SEEING GOD’S PLAN
How can I make a difference in the world and be of greater use for God?
Col 4:2-6
2 Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.
3 And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so
that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains.
4 Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
5 Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every
opportunity.
6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so
that you may know how to answer everyone.
2 Tim 3:14-17
14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become
convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it,
15 and how from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are
able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.
16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness,
17 so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good
work.
2 Tim 4:1-5
1 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living
and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this
charge:
2 Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct,
rebuke and encourage-- with great patience and careful instruction.
3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine.
Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great
number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.
4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to
myths.
5 But you, keep your head in all situations, endure hardship, do the
work of an evangelist, discharge all the duties of your ministry.
2 Cor 9:6-11
6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and
whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
7 Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not
reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all
things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good
work.
9 As it is written: "He has scattered abroad his gifts to the poor; his
righteousness endures forever."
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also
supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your
righteousness.
11 You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on
every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving
to God.
Mark 10:35-45
35 Then James and John, the sons of Zebedee, came to him. "Teacher,"
they said, "we want you to do for us whatever we ask."
36 "What do you want me to do for you?" he asked.
37 They replied, "Let one of us sit at your right and the other at your
left in your glory."
38 "You don't know what you are asking," Jesus said. "Can you drink the
cup I drink or be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with?"
39 "We can," they answered. Jesus said to them, "You will drink the cup I
drink and be baptized with the baptism I am baptized with,
40 but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant. These places
belong to those for whom they have been prepared."
41 When the ten heard about this, they became indignant with James
and John.
42 Jesus called them together and said, "You know that those who are
regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials
exercise authority over them.
43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you
must be your servant,
44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all.
45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and
to give his life as a ransom for many."
