Our church regularly donates supplies to Doorstep. Doorstep believes that all people have a right to food, clothing, shelter, and they devote their efforts and energy to serve those needs. They provide service without regard to race, age, lifestyle, personal values, or spiritual persuasion.
Doorstep provides several kinds of emergency assistance: Food Bank, Clothing Bank, Utility Assistance, Medical, Transportation, Commodity Distribution, Counseling, Referral, and Advocacy. Identification, social security number, and an interview is required for any person, or family experiencing an emergency. For more information, call (785) 357-5341 Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Loving Christian Care can help deal with crises, frustrations, difficulties in dealing with the changes which life presents. Pastor Luber responds to the needs of persons who are in need of immediate pastoral care. Often the crises indicates the need for continued follow-up call over an extended period of time.
The busy schedule of any pastor in a large congregation places many demands on the pastor's time. Stephen Ministry is a way in which rained lay persons help to respond to the multiple needs of people for pastoral care. At present, many of our members in our congregation and nearby community are receiving continuing Christian support from the our Stephen Ministers at First Lutheran.
