E3: Nintendo on Dolphin and GBA.
Nintendo speaks out on its upcoming next-generation system and handheld.
Nintendo of America president Minoru Arakawa and company executive Peter Main met the press today to talk about the company’s 64-bit lineup, and touched on the forthcoming Dolphin and Game Boy Advance systems. Arakawa, who shyly explained that Retro Studios, Rare Ltd., and Mr. Miyamoto’s EAD teams are already well underway with Dolphin software, also noted that the IBM chip for the system is finished and development is now gearing up in full. The Nintendo head honcho promised next-generation software that will truly take what software houses have accomplished on N64 to the next level. Additionally, Arakawa restated Nintendo’s 2001 release date for Dolphin, noting that the Electronics Entertainment Expo 2000 is home to a demonstration of the company’s current 64-bit lineup, not its next-generation one. The NOA president assured that the August 25 Space World show in Japan would officially house all of the Dolphin and GBA goodies Nintendo enthusiasts can handle. Absolutely nothing in relation to the Dolphin system is being previewed behind closed doors at E3. “Nintendo is an open doors company,” said Peter Main when asked about the chances of a secret Dolphin demo.
The biggest surprise regarding Final Fanasy IX has been with the change of the overall look of the game.FFIX has more of a fantasy, swords and sorcery-type look to it.In terms of design it looks a lot like Chrono Cross with the pre-rendered backgrounds super-deformed character styles. There are a total of 8 characters that will be playable in the game.. First, there's Eiko Carol, a cheerful young six year old girl who's sharp and will surprise those around her. Second, there's Freija Crescent, who is a female knight that seems to be troubled by something from her past. Next up is Quina Quen, who is a very odd creature that's only interest is eating. Quina is followed by Garnet Til Alexandros 17th, who is the princess of the royal family. Most of the people in the country think of her of a spoiled brat. Finally, there's Salamander Coral, who is a man who trusts nobody and trains under the concept that strength and power are everything. He looks quite dependable, if you can become friends with him.
In the game there seems to be a floating building it is a theater known as Prima Vista. The theater is being controlled by a group of thieves.
Furthermore, we've also learned that there will be eight total characters that will be able to join your party (not all can fight at one time). And since the game will have more of a fantasy setting, the characters will include more non-human character types -- making it more like Final Fantasy VI, than VII or VIII. For instance, the game has a rat-like character and a "monster-type" character in the game.
An aspect that seems better for the new FFIX is that you will be able to control over numerous characters One example is near the beginning of the game where the player will take control of a solider who is chasing a young boy for about five minutes. Afterwards, the player takes control of the fleeing boy for a period of time. The one thing that I don't like about it is that the fight sequence is the same. It's like okay.. you hit me then I'll hit you and lets see who dies first. They should make it real time fighting where you get to move around, block, choose different weapons, jump etc... If the game had this type of fighting swquence I think it would be more enjoyable.Don't forget to take a look at the pix.

The John Madden series of football games have been a favorite of serious football videogame throughout the 1990's. This fall, EA Sports will giv PlayStation 2 owners a dose of football reality with the 11th consecutive installment of hard-hitting football action from the irrepressible announcer himself with Madden NFL 2001.There are loads of new features, but the excellent gameplay and Madden-ized A.I. that made the previous 10 games so great are sure to be improved and worthy of the Madden name.
The most siginficant new addition to the game will be the fact the Madden NFL 2001 will include, for the first time ever, the exclusive NFL Coaches Club license. This means that coaches can now been seen on the sidelines and they will give unique coaching strategies for each of the different teams in the league.
And just as is the case with Knockout Kings 2001, the PlayStation 2 version of Madden will incorporate EA Sports new"CyberScan" technology, which allows them to accurately detail the player models and make them as life like as ever.EA caught up with all of the league's coaches ate the recent owners meeting this spring in Florida and digitized their faces using scans from a multitude of high- resolution cameras.
All of the coaches were recording yelling "encouragement" to their players and offering the referees "advice" on best to call the game.No word yet as to whether or not the game will make use of most of the NFL's coaches' wide-range of swear words that they typically include in their vocabulary.
Also new th this year's Madden are player models that show a whole ne level of detail. Wristbands, visors, facemasks, turf tape and elbow pads exist and are player specific so that each player has the same equipment in the game they use in the real NFL.There are sure to be some innaccuracies, but this level of detail has never been seen before.

This year the spring Tokyo Game Show delivered an extremely patchy assortment of PlayStation 2 and PlayStation games, and Square's promising new title "The Bouncer was one of those nearly missing in action.
Initially promised as a lauch title on March 4, 2000, in Japan, and delayed, The Bouncer looks to the next-generation of games, with drop-dead graphics, a fantastic visual appeal, and a promised seamless quality of graphics and gameplay that only the newest technology can deliver.
