Liberation Issues
It is important that all minority groups that have in the past been portrayed
as bad, evil, stupid or dumb be given positive roles:
People with disabilities, Gay Men, Lesbians, Trans Gender,
Indigenous people, People from poor backgrounds, different ethnic/racial groups, People from different countries or who vary
in some other way or who have experienced discrimination need to be respected and valued in all entertainment projects. It
is important that movies & other productions aim to tell the full story about the experiences of all sections of humanity.
Satire and other forms of humour are very effective at exposing the ridiculousness of all forms of discrimination and prejudice.
There are great opportunities
for entertainment companies to take principled stands for human rights and other issues that are of concern to the wellbeing
of the planet. Companies will improve their credibility and increase customer loyalty.
Environmental
commitments need to be generated by the entertainment industry. The entertainment industry should be mobilising environmental
campaigns and other important efforts for the wellbeing of all people and life on our planet.
