Welcome To Virtual Reelity

Movies are a subjective lot. Being an imaginative person, I like films which present characters and situations I would never encounter in my lifetime. And especially in my lifetime in the American Midwest.

  I still haven't seen Kevin Smith's
Dogma.   A link is provided below for fans of the man who gave us Clerks and Chasing Amy.  Dogma is an outrageous take on religion, about two angels unable to pull the plug on God, who is a comatose woman in an Illinois hospital protected by that state's laws against euthanasia.  Smith's defense of his film to various religious groups has been charitable and not in the least mean-spirited.  Since this was only shown 75 miles from where I live, I'll have to catch it on video.

I worked with people who believed that
The Blair Witch Project was a documentary.   This is in part due to the Hi-8 and 16mm cameras used to film the movie, and in part due to the "documentary" shown on the Sci-Fi Channel.  (True SF fans would never use the term "sci-fi;" it's "SF.")
I've already completed a sequel-parody, The Blair Weed Project.

Stanley Kubrick's final film, Eyes Wide Shut, opened in New York City on July 16th.  Starring Tom Cruise & Nicole Kidman, this was a movie highlight of the year.  You can read the amazing details about the film's stars and director in this Time article.

My official review of this film.

YES!!!  Kevin Smith, writer/director of Clerks and Chasing Amy
has a website dedicated to "Dogma," his satirical
counter-punch to films such as "City Of Angels."
