Stephen (Steophen?) D. Northup was born the son of David Northup, Sr. in about October 09, 1704 in Rhode Island. He died in about 1795. He is buried in the family plot at North Kingston, Rhode Island, and it is presumed he was born there and lived his entire life there. He is one of several Stephens who lived at North Kingston. Stephen married Sarah Roberts, (born abt 1724), on 17 Oct 1744 in S. Kingston, Washington, RI.
They had at least nine children. Although it is known that this Stephen was born and buried at North Kingston, R.I., and his Grandfather, StephenI co-founded the town, one of his children, Emmanuel was born in Preston, Connecticut, and eventually moved to Upstate New York, around West Oneonta in Otsego County around 1800, along with most of his brothers. The entire family may have moved to Connecticut and later to New York, and Stephen's remains sent back to R.I. for burial in the family plot there.
