     *Solomon Waldrop born 1796 in North Carolina, married Nancy Wood. Nancy was born (1801-1810) 1806 North Carolina, the daughter of James Wood and Jane Watts. They were listed in the 1830 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census with 3 m under 5, 1 m 30-39, 1 f under 5, 1 f 20-29, the 1840 Yancey Co., North Carolina Census with 1 m 40-49, 1 f 20-29, 1 f 50-59, the 1850 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census, and the 1860 Madison Co., North Census. Nancy died sometime after the 1860 Census. Solomon was a private in Co. B, 16th Regiment, North Carolina Confederate Infantry. He was listed in the 1870 Madison Co., North Carolina Census records. Solomon died in 1875, Madison Co., North Carolina. Their children were:

2.  Edward Waldrop, born 1826, Buncombe Co., North Carolina, married Nancy Robinson. Nancy was born in 1830 in Tennessee, the daughter of George Robinson and Mary Deaver. They were listed in the 1850 Buncombe Co., North Carolina Census, and the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Madison Co., North Carolina Census records. Edward died in April 1885, Madison Co., North Carolina. Nancy was listed in the 1900 and 1910 Madison Co., North Carolina Census, and the 1920 Greenville Co., South Carolina Census records. She died on 20 August 1923, Greenville Co., South Carolina. Their children were:

     a.  George W. Waldrop, b: 24 Jul 1849, Buncombe Co., NC, married twice. He married firstly Tennie Rice on 25 Feb 1875, Craven Co., NC. Tennie was b: 1856, NC, the daughter of Joseph Rice. Children: Laura, Eva, Alice, Mae, Osborne, Aus, Stephen, Stella, Tennie, Laura and Penny Waldrop. George married secondly to Ellen Taylor on 19 Sep 1905, Cocke Co., TN. Ellen was b: 11 Nov 1875, Cocke Co., TN, the daughter of John Taylor and Laura Cameron. George d: 29 Jun 1925, Cocke Co., TN, and Ellen d: 13 Nov 1947, Gaston Co., NC. Children: Bonnie and Georgia Waldrop.

     b.  Polly Ann Waldrop, b: 1851, Madison Co., NC, married William Henry Ray. William was b: Oct 1853, NC, the son of Stephen Ray. Polly d: before the 1900 Census records. William remarried. Polly and Williams children: Edward, Hattie A., Oscar, Everett Moore, Henry, Stephen, Anna B., and William E. Ray.

     c.  Robert Taylor Waldrep, b: 10 Dec 1853, Madison Co., NC, married Martha Belle Louas. Martha was b: 14 Dec 1860, Knox Co., TN, the daughter of George Louas and Nancy Bell. Robert d: 18 Aug 1930 and Martha d: 15 Oct 1947. They are buried in the Berry Highland Memorial Cemetery, Knoxville, Knox Co., TN (findagrave). Children: Arthur J. and Willie Myrtle Waldrep.

     d.  Phinetta Jane Waldrep, b: 10 Jan 1855, Madison Co., NC, married Jeremiah A. Redmon. Jeremiah was b: 03 Oct 1839, Buncombe Co., NC, the son of Jeremiah Redmon and Nancy Ramsey. He was previously married. Phinettta d: 16 Mar 1921 and Jeremiah d: 05 May 1911. Children: Arthur R. Redmon.

     e.  Harriet Samantha Waldrep, b: 20 Jul 1857, Madison Co., NC, married James Leonard Johnson on 19 Aug 1877, Madison Co., NC. James was b: 11 May 1851, NC, the son of Nathan Johnson and Nancy Costly. Harriet d: 06 Jul 1908 and James d: 24 Jul 1914. They are buried in the Walnut Methodist Church Cemetery, Walnut, Madison Co., NC. Children: George W., Samuel E., Hester Belle, Eulan B., Mamie, James, Stella, Hattie, Annie, Kosey, Joseph, Andrew, and Paul Johnson.

Susannah was b: 1824, Madison Co., NC, the daughter of Henry Keith and Anna Runion. They were listed in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Madison Co., North Carolina Census. She died after the 1880 Census, Madison Co., North Carolina. Their children were:

     b.  Cordelia Louarta Wardrop, b: 10 Jan 1852, Madison Co., NC, married William J. Arrington. William was b: 05 Mar 1850, Madison Co., NC, the son of Joseph Arrington and Delana McHone. Cordelia d: 06 Aug 1918 and William d: 05 Sep 1939. They are buried in the Arrington Cemetery, Marshall, Madison Co., NC (findagrave).      c.  Mary "Polly" Wardrop, b: Mar 1856, Madison Co., NC, married George Grooms. George was b: Mar 1861, Cocke Co., TN, the son of Adolphus Grooms and Ellender Franklin.       Absolum married secondly to Martha E. (some state Bellew and others Gosnell). Martha was born 03 Mar 1859, NC. They were listed in the 1900 Madison Co., North Carolina Census records. Absolum died sometime after the 1900 Census was taken. Their children were:

4.  Nancy E. Waldrop, born 1829, Buncombe Co., North Carolina, married Asa Washington Sams on 21 Oct 1852, Madison Co., North Carolina. Asa was born in April 1835, Yancey Co., North Carolina, the son of John Price Sams and Winifred Bradley. They were listed in the 1860 Washington Co., Tennessee Census and the 1870 and 1880 Madison Co., North Carolina Census. Nancy died on 30 January 1930. It appears that they divorced. Their children were:

     c.  Josiah Haines Sams, b: 03 Jan 1855, Madison Co.,NC, married twice. He married firstly to Alice ____. Alice was b: 1875, KY. Children: Etna Van Buren, Ethel, Herbert, Robert and Thomas Sams. Josiah married secondly to Veneseula F. Shore. Venesuela was b: 08 Nov 1864, the daughter of Robert and Mare Shore. Josiah d: 09 Nov 1915 and Veneseula d: 25 Nov 1849. Josiah and Veneseula are buried in the Lynn Camp Cemetery, Corbin, Knox Co., KY. Children: Jesse and Thomas Sams.

     e.  Asa Bradley Sams, b: 13 Dec 1863, Madison Co., NC, married Laura Jane Sams. Laura b: 28 Apr 1867, Madison Co., North Carolina, the daughter of Robert Sams and Sara Carter. 6.  Jeremiah N. "Jerry" Waldrop, born Sep 1832, Buncombe Co., North Carolina, married Martha "Patsey" Ammons. Patsey was born in 1832, Macon Co., North Carolina, the daughter of Thomas Ammons and Elizabeth Peek. They were listed in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 Cheoah, Graham Co., North Carolina Census. Patsey died on 05 April 1899. Jerry was listed in the 1900 Cheoah, Graham Co., North Carolina Census records. He died in 1902, Graham Co., North Carolina. Their children were:

      c.  James Waldrop, b: Dec 1857, NC, married Sarah Surcey. Sarah was b: 17 Sep 1853, Transylvania, Co., NC, the daughter of Joseph Searcy and Elizabeth Morris.
