The United States Service Command is an emergency management organization which provides trained and organized volunteers to assist other voluntary organizations and governmental agencies in response to and recovery from disasters. The USSC is one of 31 member agencies of the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters, and is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization under the Internal Revenue Code.
The USSC is organized into Division (multi-state areas), Brigade (state), Battalion (regional), and Company (local jurisdiction) units to allow the greatest flexibility to respond to emergency needs. Members are uniformed and appointed to rank based on education and training, experience, and level of responsibility in the organization.
35TH BRIGADE MISSION:
To provide staff trained in emergency operations center procedures and the operation of virtual disaster information networks to assist member agencies of the Virginia Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters and state and local emergency managers in coordination of response to disasters.
