This page is dedicated to the fire fighters of Shenandoah County.

As the photographer for the Shenandoah Valley-Herald, I'm constantly listening to may scanner for any type of emergency within the county.

It is quite sad, and maybe even pathetic, to listen for a good fire, or accident. Getting a good photo at the expense of someone's misfortune.

But it is my hope that these photos will teach others the importance of safety, and the stop a firefighter on the street and say, 'Thanks.'

This fire happened on South Middle Road outside of Mount Jackson, Virginia. The cause of the fire was electrical.

Palmyra Church Road

This fire occurred in the middle of the night southeast of Edinburg. I got a little overzealous when the fire happen by getting a little too close. Note the propane tank to the right...

French Farms

This one happened at a respectable hour: 10 p.m. Not really sure how the fire started, but it took over 3 hours before it was safe.

Maurertown

Now this fire was a barn burner... Just about every fire company in the county came to this one, and it took all night to put it out.

Water Street

After a trip to the midwest, I was greeted by this fire on Water Street in Woodstock. Under the stairs was another propane tank, but this time, I brought a telephoto lens with me...

helicopter
