The unicorn is an equine, usually solid black or
white, with a single horn rising from it's forehead.
Now, there's been rumors going around that the
unicorns horn has magical powers, that allow it
to transport itself from place to place. The horn
is not made of gold, no matter what you may
have heard. At least, not in this realm. Only in
the mythical realms is that true, and
that's why they are mythical. The horn is
made of bone, or ivory. It can be either very long,
very short, or somewhere in between.

It is said that the unicorn has the head of a horse,
with a goat's beard and hind legs, and a lion's tail.
That, of course, is utter rot. You can see for yourself
that, although some unicorns have beards, they are not
at all goat-like in appearance. Some of them have a
rather bony tail (esp. those drawn by Sue Dawes) but that
doesn't mean they are part goat. A unicorn is much more
substantial than any goat. (No disrespect to any goats.)

A mother unicorn will fiercely defend her young against all
manner of attack. She will use teeth, hooves, and horn to
deal with any threat.

There are stories circulating that only a "pure" human
can see a unicorn. While many take this to mean a virgin,
it is actually much more complicated than that. They must
also be pure of mind, heart, and deed. While any idiot may
perchance stumble across a grazing unicorn, it takes this
"pure" person to approach and maybe even touch one.
