Welcome to the P.E.E.R. homepage. P.E.E.R. stands for Professional Environmental Education Resources. Please leave comments and suggestions in my guestbook.

My name is Karen Thompson, and I am in the elementary education program at Concordia University. The P.E.E.R. project started out as one of my class assignments. I am collecting (with permission) links and resources for K-4 teachers who would like to incorporate environmental and ecology lessons into their curriculum. Currently, these sites have given me permission to link. However, I am still working on getting permission from more places, both on and off the Web. There are links to lesson ideas, lesson plans, continuing education programs, and other useful resources on the following topics:
Recycling
Air Pollution
Interconnectedness
Water Resources
Rainforest Conservation
Gardening

I am only able to get local resources for the states of Washington and Oregon, so if you have any ideas, resources, and/or addresses for places in your area I might write (either via e-mail or snail mail), please put them in my guestbook. In the future, I also would like to put up lesson plans and ideas that come from people like you: educators who want to share what they are teaching with others. With your help, P.E.E.R. can become a valuable environmental education resource for all of us.

If you like my graphics, please don't take them! You can get them free from the companies on this page.
If you would like to link to this page please ask permission first by leaving a note in my guestbook. I got permission from the sites I linked to before I put their links up, and I ask the same courtesy for my site.

These are webrings and other environmental awareness pages (though more often than not, they aren't about environmental education). I am not responsible for the content of the pages I link to, and I am not in charge of the webrings. Most of the sites are kid-friendly, though.
