"Stunt Monkey closed out the night with its upbeat, lighthearted brand of pop/punk. In addition to performing favorites like "White Trash Puppet Show," "Bachelor Pad," "Spy Girl," and "Cartoon," the band introduced a new song titled, "Advice" and threw in a fun cover of the Herman's Hermits hit 'I'm Into Something Good.'"

The festival added a new feature this year with an opening-band contest...the voting public chose Stunt Monkey... for the honor. Poppy-punk trio Stunt Monkey starts off the day on the San Carlos stage at 11am with its irrepressible sense of humor and campy stage antics (consider breakfast on them--or better yet, on you--as they toss out oodles of Hostess snacks and other goodies).

San Jose bands Stunt Monkey and Smash Mouth shine in sun at Live 105's BFD
San Jose's Stunt Monkey kicked off the day on the Local Lounge stage. Local promoter Eric Fanali and his "ninja sidekick" (known simply as "Max") worked backstage for the poppy punk trio, tagging the sizable crowd with Hostess snack cakes, Blow Pops and other treats while the band played. Closing with "Bake a Cake," Stunt Monkey brought out a big cake with BFD scripted in red frosting, which was chucked into the audience, covering everyone in cake and starting a food fight.

6/10/99 @ the Edge, Palo Alto, with Let's Go Bowling and the Timeouts
Always personable, Stunt Monkey vocalist Aram Sarkissian was in rare form last Thursday (June 10) when the local punk trio performed at the Edge with the Timeouts and Let's Go Bowling. The band was in fine spirits, even though drummer John Velcamp was on crutches due to a sprained ankle. Passing out bubble-stuff and silly-string, the guys made the show fun. In addition to songs like "Cartoon" and "White Trash Puppet Show," Stunt Monkey broke out some new material, including one song I was particularly fond of titled "Hypochondriac."

Preview: Eric Finale, Bay Area Ska:
"What's the opportunity cost of attending the Trackstar show at Bottom of the Hill in SF on June 10th (I'm taking a summer Economics course)? Ten bucks. The cost of the next best thing, in this case the Lookout Records Showcase at Bimbos that same night costs $10. But a point can be made that the Let's Go Bowling show at the Edge is the next best alternative. A chance to catch the ultra hot Stunt Monkey opening at the Edge is worth the trip to Palo
Alto alone.
Those crazy monkeys are set to play the local (third) stage at (the sold out) Live 105's BFD on June 18. If you want to catch the super-pop group for cheap (if you are into opportunity cost or just broke) come on down to the Fishbowl this sat night where rumor has it that Stunt Monkey will bring the "Wheel of Songs" for you to spin, woohoo.

"Among a long list of acts, [Sullivan ha]s been supportive of Stunt Monkey, RetroMotive, Monkey, Insolence and I.B.O.P.A., all of which are starting to bring an increased amount of attention to the South Bay's music scene.
Stunt Monkey vocalist and guitarist Aram Sarkissian also values Sullivan's support and says, 'I think he's had integrity with what he's done. I think for all bands who are struggling ... it's nice to know that there are booking people who are looking out for local bands' best interests and trying to get them exposure.'"

4/8/99 @ the Usual Niteclub, San Jose, for SFMX5 with Oranger and IBOPA
"...I was excited. Stunt Monkey, a heavily pop-rock band was opening up this show. They are from San Jose..., and they've been playing around the Bay Area for a while now. They've got a bundle of catchy tunes; Cartoon, Spy Girl, Bachelor Pad. Most songs have a familiar chords amongst them, but don't seem too repetitive to that annoying Donnas punk level."
- Noisy Popsicle, 4/13/99
"I was backstage taking a piss next to that guy from Stunt Monkey, and he has a huge penis."

"Offering fun, poppy, lo-fi college punk on its disc, For the Ear, with
irrestible songs like "Cartoon" ('I'll never age/I'll never die/my life is
sponsored by Eskimo Pie'), this local band has been getting a lot of attention from LIVE 105 recently. The station has been playing "White Trash Puppet Show" on Wednesday's Local Lounge show and Friday's SoundCheck.

Preview: Zero Magazine, 2/1/99, "Hot Picks":
Dick Dale and Mr. T paired up is enough to make you drool, but the added attraction of seeing them at the Edge (one of the few local venues with good sound, along with Stunt Monkey, makes this more than a show -- it's
an event! The only question is: who's going to upstage who?
Preview: Jim Harrington, Palo Alto Weekly, 1/29/99:
[Dick Dale's] Edge show, ...also includes two strong opening acts, Mr. T Experience and San Jose's own Stunt Monkey
Review: Noisy Popsicle, "Four Days of Fun":
Well, Stunt Monkey, a pop band from the San Jose area, kicked off the show. They threw out barrels of monkeys, and a pinata filled with wonderful
candy (i.e. pixy stix, dum dum's and smarties). This was probably my fifth or sixth time seeing Stunt Monkey

10/29/97 @ Cactus Club, San Jose, w/ the Odd Numbers.
Review: Todd Inoue, Metro:
"Down the street, a paunchy Rick James swung through his set at the Usual while the Odd Numbers and Stunt Monkey did their thing at Cactus. Stunt Monkey was an interesting find; the three-piece pop charmers led by guitarist/vocalist Aram Sarkissian attracted a sizable crowd. The group echoes the Young Fresh Fellows and even Joe 'King' Carrasco in its wiliness. It performed the happiest song about suicide since Queen's 'Don't Try Suicide.'"
