February Results

Both Butler squads dropped dual meet decisions to Ball State and Wright State last week. Butler's men were beaten by Ball State, 160-89, and Wright State, 124-80, while Butler's women lost to Ball State, 175-85, and to Wright State, 124-86. The two meets left Butler's men with a 1-11-1 record, while Butler's women fell to 4-9. Highlighting the week's action was the performance of freshman Melinda Harrald (Arlington Hts., Ill.). She won both the 100 breaststroke (1:09.65) and the 200 breaststroke (2:31.78) against Ball State and then came back with a victory in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.20) against Wright State. Freshman Anna Pecharich (Richmond, Ill.) was a double-winner with victories in the 200 freestyle (1:58.38) against Ball State and the 500 freestyle (5:22.58) against Wright State, while freshman Gina Sciortino (Maitland, Fla.) won the 100 backstroke (1:05.51) against Wright State. In the men's competition, the Bulldogs picked up three wins against Wright State. Freshman Brett Balhoff (Monclova, Ohio) won the 400 individual medley (4:16.91), junior David Scarborough (Cincinnati, Ohio) won the 100 backstroke (58.23) and junior Jack Negro (Peoria, Ill.) won the 500 freestyle (5:09.72).
