Our Landscaping Efforts

This is the second of two pages describing our landscaping work here in Kitty Hawk. You can go back to the first page by clicking on BACK.

Northwest Corner.

These are close-up photos of the northwest corner planting area. This corner includes cedars, azaleas, eucalyptus, pampas, Rugosa roses, sweet olives, yucca, and lilies. What is a yucca? Click here (17K).

This is the eucalyptus we planted earlier this year. It has doubled in size since then. The main trunk is about thumb size already. These plants grow into trees in this area.

These two pictures, right and left, show the south side of the driveway. Not only did we put the landscaping structure around the house, we extended it around the driveway.

Under the Steps.

The picture on the left shows the area under the steps that go to our deck, with stepping stones inserted in the River Rock.

The work in the front of the house was a lot more complicated then the rear and sides. The pictures below show the work required to make the round corners in the driveway. This treatment has the timbers placed vertically, rather then horizontally. The vertical pieces are all at least 12 to 18 inches below the driveway/ground level and connected with a band of hard vinyl. We think they came out rather nicely...... but then we are biased. The plants in the areas mulched with stone are doing very well.

West of driveway.

This photo is the north side of the driveway.

And this one is the west side of the drive/turn around. The flowers are merigolds.
