Chapter 12

During lunch the next day at school. Travis and some of his friends
walked up to the snack bar. In order to get there they have to go past
Anna's table. As they walked past, Travis smiled at Anna.
"Oh my gosh! He smiled at our table!" Joy shreiked.
"At our table? Heck, he smiled at me," Molly said.
"Molly, you're full of it," answered Kristi, just as Travis
walked up and sat across from Anna and everyone got quiet. Anna, who
was reading a note, looked up.
    "Oh, hi Travis!" Anna said.
"Anna, do you want to come to my party on Saturday night?" Travis
asked.
"Travis, what about Blair?" asked Travis' friend, who was standing
behind him.
"To heck with Blair! I dumped her yesterday. So do ya wanna come?"
    "Sure, I'll ask my mom."
"No, ask your dad. He'll let you come. I really don't think your
mom likes me and my mom very much."
    "Kay."
Then Travis left to go back to his table.
"Oh my gosh! You are so lucky! How does he know you?" Joy asked
Anna as everyone leaned their heads in to listen.
"I have my ways," Anna replied with a smile.
    "Tell me now!" Kristi demanded.
Okay. He was at my house for, like, 7 hours on Saturday night."
    "Your joking. Right?" Molly asked.
"Do you think I was joking? How do you think he knew my name?"
"Lucky guess," Joy said sarcastically, "You have to bring me to
that party."
    "No me," Jenna said.
Then all of Anna's friends started fighting about who was going to
go to the party.
"I'm not going to bring any of you if y ou don't shut up about how
obsessed you are with him," Anna said.
"I'm sorry Anna. Do you want me to buy you lunch today?" Molly
asked.
"No. And I won't bring you if you suck up either. Actually, now
that I think about it, I might just go alone!"
There were gasps from the whole table.
"Well you can't expect me to bring all of you. Can you?"
"Yes," all of her friends said in unison.
"I don't think so. He invited me, and none of you. How would I
look showing up with all of you?"
    "Fine," Jenna said.
"I'll think about it," Anna said, to make them all happy.
After lunch, Anna went to her study hall room to find out that they
were switching teachers again for the third time that year.
"When will we ever just have one stupid teacher," Anna said to her
friend Dana.
"I don't know, but it's starting to bug me," Dana replied.
After looking at the sheet about where her class should go, she
found out that the class was split into fourths. Anna and Dana were
still in the same class because it went alphabetical, and their last
names were close. They approached the classroom with a few other kids
from the old study hall and went in. Anna could see that there was
already kids in the room that she knew, Travis was upon them. The
teacher, Mrs. Langer, took their names, and assigned them a seat.
Dana and Anna weren't by each other, but Anna was across the aisle
from Travis.
    "Hi," Anna said, sitting down.
    "Hi," Travis replied.
The teacher went over all the rules of the study hall. Like they
didn't know about them.
Anna asked Travis, "Is it okay if I bring a couple of my friends
to your party? They won't-"
She was then interupted by Mrs. Langer, "Excuse me Miss, uh," she
looked at her chart, "Hanson. Didn't I just say that there is to be
NO talking?"
    "Sorry," Anna replied.
Travis took out a piece of paper and wrote 'Call me tonight', then
his phone number, and handed it to Anna.
    "Thanks," she said.
"Miss Hanson! Do you want a referal?"
    "No, sorry," Anna said, blushing.
When the bell rang, Anna jumped up and out the door. Travis was
right after her.
"Looks like she's got it in for you," Travis said, laughing.
"Looks like it. She's really mean."
"You think she was mean now, you should see her on her bad days.
Now that's mean."
"So you're telling me that this was a good day?" Anna asked.
"Yep. Well I gotta go. Call me, okay?"
    "Okay, bye."
Travis turned around and said, "Oh yeah, go ahead and bring some
of your friends. I want to meet my groupies."
    "Okay," Anna said, laughing.
The rest of the day went by quickly. Anna didn't see Travis any
time after study hall.

"Hello?" Anna yelled, as she and Brad walked into the house.
"I'm in the kitchen," Stephanie yelled back.
"Oh my gosh Mom! Travis Carter invited me to his party this
Saturday! Can I please go?" Anna asked.
    "I'm not sure. I don't think so."
"Uh! Why not? Dad would let me go!"
"He wouldn't let you go to Kristi's cabin, why would he let you
go to Travis' party? You're not going!"

When Taylor got home from work, Anna ran down the stairs to greet
him.
"Hello, Daddy, how was work?" Anna asked, hugging her father.
"O-Kay, what do you want?" Taylor said.
"Nothing. Can't a girl give her dad a hug just because she loves
him more than any other dad in the world?"
    "I'm your only dad."
"Oh, can I go to Travis Carter's party on Saturday?"
"I don't see why not. DO you see any reason why she can't go?"
Taylor asked Ryan.
"I think she should go and have fun!" Ryan answered.
"Well, if Ryan says you can go, you can go!"
"No she can't. I already told her no," Stephanie said.
"There's no harm in it. I think I know his mom well enough to let
Anna go."
    "Fine," Stephanie agreed.

Ana decided to bring two of her friends, Emily Fox and Kristi
Galing. Anna was talking to some of her friends in the hall at school,
when Travis and some friends walked by.
"Hey Travis, my friend wanted to know if your parents are gonna
be at your party," Anna asked.
"Let me say. . ." Travis thought for a while, "The truth is. . .
see my dad doesn't mind if I have a party, as long as he's the life
of it. So yeah." Then he left for class.
