More Goo Stuff

Playing a gig in the Southern California sunshine for more than 60,000 people might seem like rock heaven, but don't tell that to the Goo Goo Dolls. Nothing, it seems, went right for the Goos at the annual Wango Tango extravaganza on Saturday (May 13) at Dodger Stadium, where the trio shared a bill with hosts 'N Sync, and performers Lenny Kravitz, Sugar Ray, Hanson, Sisqo, Enrique Iglesias, Jessica Simpson, Eiffel 65, and a sea of screaming fans.

Vocalist/guitarist Johnny Rzeznik tells LAUNCH that, more than anything else, the day was "a disaster. "We were introduced 15 minutes before we actually went on, and then our bass player, his bass rig went down three times during the show, and I got a sunburn, so the whole day was a disaster," he says. "He punched a truck, we yelled at the stage manager, you know, it was, it was pretty much a clusterf--k, yeah. It's like, that's the only way I can describe it."

The appearance appears to have been one of the last by the Goos in support of its multiplatinum album, Dizzy Up The Girl, which has spawned several hit singles -- including the current one, "Broadway" -- since its release in 1998. The band is eyeing some long-overdue time off in June.
