November 6, 2000 GOO GOO DOLLS WIN RADIO MUSIC AWARD FOR "ARTIST OF THE YEAR - POP ALTERNATIVE RADIO." Warner Bros. recording artists the Goo Goo Dolls won the award for "Artist of the Year - Pop Alternative Radio" at the Radio Music Awards this past Saturday, November 4th. Band members John Rzeznik, Robby Takac and Mike Malinin were on hand to accept the award, presented live on ABC-TV from the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. The Radio Music Awards are based on radio airplay and voted on by 600 radio programmers and music directors around the country. The award acknowledges the success of the band's triple-platinum-plus album, DIZZY UP THE GIRL, and it's hit songs "Iris," "Slide," "Dizzy," "Black Balloon," and "Broadway." Last year, "Iris" won a Radio Music Award for "Pop Song of the Year."
