Well, here's my review. First of all, I'd like to apologize to anyone that I was rude to at the front of the stage. I was getting angry and taking it out on those of you around me, even though I know none of the pushing or surfing was your fault. Why do people have to be so rude?? Anyway, a special sorry to the girl I yelled at to get off of me (I was the angry one in the Packers jacket).
I got there at 9:00 and went in and helped our chili team get everything at the booth set up. Then I went in search of Diana, whom I never found :(
I was able to be at the front of the stage with my friend before the general public was let in and I claimed my spot right in front of where I knew Robby would be. I thought I had it all figured out because I stood right in front of one of the polls that held the wall up and I clung to it with all of my might hoping that I wouldn't be pushed out of my prime spot. Wishful thinking... I got to see Ebo, Vertical Horizon (amazing!), and the beginning of Stroke 9's set (also amazing) before I was forced to make my way out of the crowd because I just couldn't breathe up there and I thought I was going to get something broken. I was incredibly disappointed and convinced that I wouldn't even get to see the Goos when they came on. All I can say is, "Thank God for reserved seating in Vermont."
Just before the Goos went on I decided my best plan was to leave the chili cookoff and go outside the fence since the crowd out there was so much thinner.
I took a chance and went around the corner before claiming a spot and what did I find? The Goos trailer. Nathan was outside talking to a small group of people. I asked him to sign my hat but he said he wasn't signing before the show but he'd be back later. Johnny came out and quickly signed a few autographs about 2 feet away from me and then took off towards the stage. Mike and Robby were in a hurry when they came out so they didn't stop to talk to us except for Robby saying that he couldn't hear us because he had
headphones in already.
I quickly ran around to the side of the stage and got a prime spot at the fence. The guys sounded great today, but unfortunately the bad seeds in the audience ruined it for the rest of us by throwing stuff at the stage. Poor Johnny got hit by a shoe and abruptly ended the show.
I ran back around to the trailer in hopes of receiving at least the promised autograph from Nathan but the guys just jumped in the vans and left. Robby said a quick, "I'm sorry" to us before he left. He's such a sweetheart.
I have some great digital pictures that my friend took and as soon as he burns them onto a cd for me I'll send them to Mike to post.
P.S. Our chili team tanked, but my friend's salsa got first place
