After the devolution of thirty schools last month there has been a dramatic turn of events. When the new states were founded the School Rules became the effective legislature. However, certain actions covered by the countrywide law are not emphatically expressed in the school rules. This means that such criminal activities as murder, blackmail and extortion are not illegal.
Legacy The main problem is that since someone discovered this it was reported in one of the lesser tabloids and has become common knowledge. As a result of this damaging result parents have withdrawn pupils from the schools and a whole new criminal culture has moved in. One of the worst examples is the Pembrokeshire Community Education State (PCED). The entire staff, bar the Headmaster, have fled in the face of organised crime and drug traffickers. The Head has adapted to this by becoming the Chief of the PCED Mafia, a now despised criminal brute. He has refitted the entire school in the red and black of his hero, Hitler.
Neo The daily ritual of parades, training and saluting seem to echo the dark days of Nazi Germany all to well. One can only suspect that many of the older members of the new faculty are perhaps the sons and daughter of long forgotten war criminals… buts that's just idle speculation. But out of all this have we yet learnt anything? Does this sad tale of bad planning, human error and vicious anti-socialism mean anything to today's upwardly mobile? No, I don't think so. It lacks the Tarantinoesque detail, there is not vehemently anti-establishment dialogue. What I say is simple this: Where have all the cowboys gone?
If only Clint Eastwood was alive today…
