A road like brown ribbon A sky that is blue A forest of green With that sky peeping through. Asters, deep purple, A grasshopper's call, Today it is summer, Tomorrow is fall. I'm glad I live Where seasons change - I like my world To rearrange. A Little Elf A little elf Sat in a tree Painting leaves To throw at me. Leaves of yellow And leaves of red Came tumbling down About my head. I Love Fall I love fall! Fall is exciting. It's apples and cider. It's an airborne spider. It's pumpkins in bins. It's burrs on dog's chins. It's wind blowing leaves. It's chilly red knees. It's nuts on the ground. It's a crisp dry sound. It's green leaves turning And the smell of them burning It's clouds in the sky. It's fall. That's why... I love fall. September The breezes taste of apple peel. The air is full of smells to feel Ripe fruit, old footballs, burning brush, New books, erasers, chalk, and such. The bee, his hive well-honeyed, hums And Mother cuts chrysanthemums. Like plates washed clean with suds, the days Are polished with a morning haze. Author: John Updike
