If you thought Yuuhi's past was bad, you ain't seen nothing yet. Third (henceforth referred to as 'it')'s past is bad, and it's present is doubtful. For ease, I'm gonna copy the report Sera, Third's 'legal guardian' and the woman who owns the group home Third used to live in, sent to Ranith when Ranith talked to her for a good long time and requested to take over custody of Third.

Gabriel refers to itself as 'Third', though it will answer to 'Gabriel', 'Angel', or any name a person announces they will call it. A natural hermaphrodite with a genetic mutation causing the production of XYX-cromosomes, other children tend not to respond well to Gabriel. Gabriel seems to have little sense of self and should be kept under daily supervision -- Gabriel has a tendancy to obey any direct command given to it. Dear Ranith-san;
Thank you for your kind offer to help take care of Third. I see no reason that we cannot take you up on that, though I do insist on seeing Third every other week, both so it doesn't feel 'uprooted' and so that I can see what progress is being made. Mr. Megane is being very helpful; Third's transfer request will go through in two weeks. What day would you like to move Third in? Some of the kids offered to help carry its stuff, though of course, that's up to you. Enclosed is a timeline, or at elast as close to a time line as I've been able to figure out from records and Third's own words. Also attatched is a list of Third's 'triggers' we've discovered in our time with Third and any background I forgot to mention.

June 14, 1986, at 9:14 pm - Gabriel Ash Tenki born to parents Mari Ash Tenki (mother) and Van Ash Tenki (father) at Kanri hospital in Tokyo.

From what we've learned, its parents pampered it while using its gender differences as a sticking point between them. Mari referred to Gabriel as male and Van as female, and Gabriel grew up overhearing these arguments.

April 1990 - Gabriel enrolled in first year of kindergarden in Sigame School.

September 1992 - Gabriel removed from Sigame and kept home for a year of home schooling.

Although there are few to no records of this, Third mentioned a few things that lead us to believe that all the other children and a few teachers gave Gabriel a lot of trouble -- to them, Gabriel didn't fit in a catagory and was met with the disdain/fear corresponding to that. During the year off, Third apparently went to play with the older children (at his learning level) and that was about the time the police began receiving calls from Gabriel's parents about rapes and beatings, but Gabriel refused to reveal the identities of the perpetrators and police investigation turned up nothing. Third began to moodswing rapidly and have frequent nightmares. It was taken to doctors who, thorough experimentation, found some drugs that appeared to help. At the end of this year, it was enrolled back in school at Tekido School. Abuse reports stopped coming into the police, although personally, I believe it is more likely that Gabriel managed to hide the signs rather than that the abuse stopped, or perhaps its parents simply gave up on police results.

April 1994 - Gabriel hits puberty, by doctors reports, young. Enrolled at Tekido for four months, at which point it had to be removed for 'medical reasons'. It went on, pretty much, tours of various psychiatrists offices as it, judging by the reports, slipped into a broken minded, emotionally wild state. It was declaired certifiable in late september and its parents drove it towards Teke Psychiatric Ward. They never arrived.

Here starts the 'lost years'. I haven't been able to find out much about these and haven't wanted to ask, but from what I can tell, Gabriel was kept as some kind of slave or pet. Though this is obviously not a ... healthy... situation, Gabriel at least seemed to calm some during it and is much more balanced emotionally, doesn't seem to have nightmares, etc. However, with just the doctors' reports to work from, it seems likely that here is where Gabriel lost its sense of self, although it started to take the identity of 'Third'.

Triggers:
-Do NOT say "I'm leaving you alone for a few hours" or anything of the sort, unless you want a catatonic Third on your hands. "I'm going out for a bit" is okay, though.
-Slapping or any other 'physical shock' methods of drawing a person's attention tend to both make Third extra-submissive and, well, aroused. Unclear whether Third ENJOYS pain, or if this is a trained response.
-If Third shares a room with someone for the night, Third will try to share their bed.
-Third IS sexually aware and begins to moodswing if it doesn't get regular sexual activity. The suggestion of masturbation hasn't caught on."

Of course, Third was in the same "Package Deal" as Yuuhi, with all that that implies. When after the first part of the "Lost years", Seraphim took Third under his wing, putting Third through intense physical training and implanting neural controls for the MRCS in its back. Third is a master both in mecha combat and with a gun, despite its obvious difficulties with physical combat. (See the triggers) When a person who follows all commands is told, "practice this until you get it perfect", they learn quickly, even if they damage themselves in the process, after all. Although Ranith now is Third's "Master", Third seems to still be in contact with Seraphim, and is in actuality working for the villain, though it wants, as much as it wants anything, not to do that any more for Ranith's sake. Although Third hangs around with Nikki, Third considers Ranith its only friend. Third was the assassin in the Sensei's death -- it was a set up by Seraphim to use the best sniper and give Third an excellent alibi for not having done it, while getting rid of Tom. For what it's worth, Seraphim hadn't planned on Tom raping Third, just beating it up. Seraphim's identity will be revealed under 'Seraphim' alone.

Third is very intelligent and is perfectly aware of most of its triggers, to the point of being able to warn the party of some of them. It is very casual about being beaten and raped, and rarely stops smiling, whatever it's talking about. Third is busy trying to think of ways around its compulsions because Eugene told it to, and currently, it's betting that Ranith could get answers out of it if she wanted to...
