Female in Leather Armor
FEMALE IN LEATHER ARMOR WITH LONGBOW

Despite popular belief, many women in Medieval times were trained to use bows. Archery was one of the few events at a tournament that women were permitted to participate in. As a result there were many women who became expert with the weapon.

As the needs arose, many nobles, kings and lords employed the services of female assassins as women were not as prone to suspicion as men. Thus, a woman could easily approach her intended target, fire upon him or her with a bow and make a quick escape.

Leather armor was the choice form of protection. It wasn't as noisy and cumbersome as metal armors and it allowed for comfort and ease of movement.
Usually the leather armor worn by women was a one-piece garment much like a dress. Additional pieces were added such as shin and arm bracers and padded leather boots.
