Logan Policy Debate
Home Page

James Logan High School, Union City, CA

Here comes the new, improved Policy Web Page.  Most of the changes here are just cosmetic, I'll update links and search for new debate links if there is demand later in the year.  Hopefully, this one will be easier to load than the previous version, and asthetically pleasing as well...   As always, feel free to direct any questions or comments about this page, or debate in general, to Ryan

For the Incoming Frosh (and those who need to brush up):

There's a special Novice Page to give the incoming freshmen a resource to get up to speed on Policy Debate.  For now, I've just included links to documents that I feel are a good instructional set on top of what you're getting in the Summer Session.  I've tried to read through most of the documents linked, and there's plenty of glossaries, definitions and general info that you might find useful when you find you've forgot to study for the debate theory test you're taking in 10 minutes....
Check out the Research Page and Case Idea Page once you're comfortable with issues and stuff.

For the Varsity Kids:

I know you guys have assignments (or will have pretty soon) and you want to get started on cases and stuff.  In that vein, I've geared up some pages to help you conduct a lot of online research (make sure you read the internet citation page).  The Research Page has links to articles specifically on the Russia topic and another set of links to online document libraries, newspapers and other infomation sources.  I have gone through all of these links to try and include the most useful and leave out the not-so-useful.  I'm also doing a preliminary Case/Position idea list for the Russia topic, but you guys really need to help me out on this one, because I'm not going to camp, and aside from the web, I won't have much contact to debate here in Washington D.C.
There's also an Advanced Theory page with links to Kritiks (Norm and the whatnot), Counterplans, Paradigms and everything else under the sun.  If you have specific theory needs, just email me and I'll dig up the Theory Binder and post specific requests on the page.
In case any of you are considering a really last minute application to a debate institute, I've included the links of most of the major ones on the Institute Page.  There's a ton of camps out there, and a ton of websites as well, so let me know if I left out a good one.  I'm sorry, but for now, the State University of New Mexico (or something like that) will have to do without your business.  Such a shame...
There's also a really new thing that I've seen popping up on the web: Evidence Trading Centers.  I'm not sure if these work that well, or yield that much good evidence, but you're welcome to try it out.  I think one of these places tries to exchange masses of institute evidence after camps are done...

For Everyone:

Well, as a general guide to debate on the web, check out the Online Debate Orginizations (NFL, TOC, etc.).  If this is your first stab at the internet, or you're getting to like it more and more there's good news: you can get email and web page accounts for FREE.  Just go to the Internet Page.   Well, last but not least, I've assembled links to some pretty funny debate stuff;  when you're too stressed or just want to goof off, try the Debate Humor Page.
