An international initiative, Health On the Net Foundation (HON) is a non-profit
organisation, headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland.  The Foundation is dedicated to realising the benefits of the Internet and related technologies in the fields of medicine and healthcare.

The purpose of the Foundation is to advance the development and application of new information technologies, notably in the fields of health and medicine. With private and public sector support, the Foundation actively promotes effective Internet use and demonstrates best-in-class implementation and application.

The Foundation also assists other institutions enhance their traditional medical and healthcare activities through the introduction of Internet technologies and tools.

Healthfinder
Healthfinder™ is a gateway consumer health and human services information web site  from the United States government. healthfinder™ can lead you to selected online publications, clearinghouses, databases, web sites, and support and self-help groups, as well as the government agencies and not-for-profit organizations  that produce reliable information for the public.  Launched in April 1997, healthfinder™ served Internet users over 1.7 million times in its first year online.  The healthfinder™ web site has been developed by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), in collaboration with other federal agencies. The project is coordinated by the  Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (ODPHP),
with the active participation of a Steering Committee composed of representatives of the federal agencies whose information is included in healthfinder™ and non­federal consumer health information specialists, librarians, and others actively engaged in the provision or use of online consumer health information. Significant support for the project is provided by the National Health Information Center.
