Lake Mead National Recreation Area, located
25 miles east of Las Vegas, has about 1.5
million acres of desert land and clear water.
It boast 550 miles of shoreline and covers
nearly 250 square miles. It is the perfect area
for a variety of water and land related activities!

Lake Mead is located in southern Nevada
and northwestern Arizona. Water activities at
Lake Mead include swimming, boating, water
skiing, rafting, diving and fishing.

Other activities include hiking, camping and
horseback riding. Tours of the Hoover Dam are
conducted daily. The many swimming beaches
are open year round.

Lake Mead is home to bighorn sheep, mule deer,
coyotes, kit foxes, bobcats, ringtail cats,
jack rabbits, numerous lizards and snakes,
and a wealth of bird species. Threatened and
endangered species such as the desert tortoise
and peregrine falcon are found here, as well
as ancient Colorado River fish species.
