Nina lived with Nancy & Robert Stewart (her granddaughter & grandson-in-law) in her later years-the late 1800's. John was the son of Jordon/Gordon Delk (spelled both ways) and they were in TN by 1808, came from N. C. Jemima and her children moved to Fentress County TN where they live out their lives. Jemima and her children moved to Fentress County TN where they live out their lives. Jemima is still living in 1880 and is listed as 92 years old. Her son Henry is in the 1900 census and he is at the county farm.

Notes for James Delk:

The 1850 census shows both James and Matilda as husband and wife. The same for the 1870 census, but the 1880 census shows an Ellen as his wife with the same age as him. James died in 1899 and the 1900 census shows a Matilda as head of the home with a son, his wife, and several grandchildren. This led me to believe Ellen was either a middle name or a nickname for Matilda, and that James only married once.

George W. Delk was the 6th child of Sherwood Delk who married Melissa Helm abt. 1845. Sherwood, in turn was the son of John Delk born abt. 1785 and his wife, Jemima (Nina) Adkins. This John was the second son of Jorden Delk, born in VA or NC and came to East TN with his wife, Susannah (Randall?).

"He was murdered by someone who broke into his home. In Chicago Illinios.The guy was indicted for murder but plea bargined it back to a lesser charge. He was sentenced to 3 years. He died in Oak Lawn Illinois nursing home in Dec 1978. The beating took place in Summit IL. This fellow and Carmel got into an argument and about 2am this guy kicked the door down and beat him. He had a loaded 38 under his pillow at the time but he was also paralized on his left side. I don't know if he could have reached it. " Larry Delk
